Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time

Which do you consider as its predecessor, ToD or QfB?

Also, Sly 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando were both major improvements over the first games in their respective franchises.

It's easy. That's Doom 3, GTA3, Fallout 3, Might and Magic VI. Most improved. Some of them.
But in terms of gameplay and overall quality I want to mention:
Super Mario Bros. 3
Might and Magic VI
Uncharted 2
The Witcher 3
TES3: Morrowind
Red Dead Redemption
Warcraft 2
Mortal Kombat (2011)

Uncharted 2
God Of War 2
Mass Effect 2
Bioshock 2

Jak 3

Over Jak 2 right? I agree with that but compared to the first game, both are in it's shadow in terms of gameplay and fun.

WipeOut 2097

Destruction Derby 2

Twisted Metal World Tour (seriously, anyone played the original? Nothing in comparison to this god like game).

Mass Effect 2 - less RPG elemens but a far better game overall.

Hmm, pie.

Uncharted 2
Assassins Creed 2
Killzone 2

do spiritual successors count? if so then Red Dead Redemption

Around the Network

Pretty much every second game in every franchise ever.... They usually lose it's touch after the third because of limitations of the franchise as a story and avoid getting to far aware from core, but salute to those studios who manage to pull it off, a very few but it happens

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90

Ratchet and Clank 2
Crash Bandicoot 2
The Sims 2
Jedi Academy
Skyrim
Super Mario Bros 3
Project Gotham Racing 2
Gran Turismo 2
Wipeout Fusion
Super Mario Land 2
Dragon Age Inquisition
Jazz Jackrabbit 2

Mario Galaxy. It was a huge improvement over Sunshine, that was already good.

Street Fighter II. The first one was clunky and is now borderline unplayable, but the second one caused a massive change in the way that fighting games were played, and has many fans to this day.

Talk about winning a thread on the first post haha, absolute garbage to all time classic.

Here's a couple:

Ultima VIII -> Ultima Online: I don't know if this is really fair as they're not exactly of the same series, but Ultima essentially went from their weakest installment that looked like it might end the series to one of the greatest and most enduring MMO's of all time that people are still playing 19 years later.

GTA II -> GTA III: I think this one should be self-explanatory, probably one of the biggest upgrades and most important reinventions of a series in gaming history.

Europa Universalis II -> Europa Universalis III: I know it's probably not as well known, but the leap that grand strategy franchise took was enormous.

Sonic the Hedgehog -> Sonic the Hedgehog 2: The first game was certainly good in its own right, but I don't think modern Sonic (with the spin and everything) is recognizable until the sequel.

Dynasty Warriors -> Dynasty Warriors 2: Even though it's akin to Madden with little changing from iteration to iteration, this franchise has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. The original was merely a dueling game between leaders, whereas the second game reinvented itself with the huge maps and thousands of soldiers.

Pitfall -> Pitfall 2: Don't get me wrong, the first Pitfall is among the best 2nd gen games in its own right, but to this day I have a hard time understanding how Pitfall 2 even runs on an Atari VCS. Amazing game given the tech limitations.

Call of Duty -> Call of Duty 2: Whereas Call of Duty was, to put it simply, "meh", CoD 2 is the game that kept all my friends and I busy in the dorms and really launched that franchise.

Metroid -> Super Metroid: Metroid is a classic, but they basically upgraded every aspect of the game for Super Metroid.

Only played demos of these rather than the full games but I've got to agree! That was a huge change, the series even changed to an imo better genre

Technically they are not from the same franchise, since the japanese names are different. But I agree.

Shin Sangokumuso(DW2)> Sangokumuso (DW1)

Either way it works for me anyways.

Shin Sangokumuso 2 (DW3)>>>>>>>DW2>>DW1

warcraft 3
