I disagree there.

I  don't know about that.

I felt like 3 improved on everything compared to 2. More open world, more guns, more exploration, more vehicles, better story, answers a lot of important questions, etc.  It was just a better game overall.

I guess vehicles aren't my bag. I preferred the original over both 2 and 3.

You are right. I think its a hipster thing when most people say Jak 3 was worse when it was clearly better in practically every way.

Bioshock 2 - The gameplay improvement are ridiculous.

Arkham Knight - Everything is improved.

Jak 3 - Everything is improved.

Uncharted 2, though there was nothing really wrong with UC:DF.

Mass effect 2, by a substantial margin. Though again Mass Effect was a very good game, and I think story-wise was more interesting than ME2.

Sorry, but I disagree with you there. Excluding gameplay, it was worse in every category. It scaled back significantely on RPG elements, introduced lazy elements like ammo(for a futuristic shooter, this made no sense), and was far more linear (exploration cut back, and just the general missions as well).

I didn't mind the scaling back of the RPG elements. I found them a bit tiresome in ME. But could be the order in which I played them. Being a PS3 gamer I played the games in the following order: ME2 (killed Wrex in the back story), ME3, ME1 (didn't kill Wrex), ME2, ME3. So my frame of reference was really ME2. Which also meant I knew all the main story beats in ME before playing it. It was still great playing ME so that I learned all the finer points of the story that are absent from playing ME+watching the interactive motion comic. I think people value non-linearity too much as a virtue in itself. It's an element of game design that can be done well or badly. Decreasing the lineariy of a franchise is not inherently good or bad. IMO most of the non-linearity in ME was there without much purpose. Pissing around driving criss cross over a segment of a planet's surface was mostly a pointless time sink and was only interesting the first 2 or 3 times. There was more openess in the Citadel, but it was still a walled garden and only a small segment of the Citadel. My dream of the Citadel being entirely explorable was never achieved. Of course you could base an entire game on an open world Citadel, which I would kinda like to see.

Ah I see. 1st game was great too, but that one was pretty much all platforming(guessing that's why you like that one more). 2 and 3 felt like they were from a completely different franchise considering what they did with it(it still worked really well) xD My fav is Jak 3 , just felt like the best game overall for me.

Uncharted 2, Sly 2, Assassins Creed 2.

3D World > 3D Land
Paper Mario TTYD > Paper Mario
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood > Assassin's Creed 2 > Assassin's Creed
Sonic 3 > Sonic 2 > Sonic 1
Neptunia V-II > Neptunia V > Neptunia mkII > Neptunia
Pokémon Gold/Silver > Pokémon Red/Blue

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando

Xplay gave it a 5/5 and it was my first game in the series. I went back and played the first and it was almost not playable. I have since found a way to appreciate but if it wasn't in my favorite series ever I probably wouldn't bother. Going Commando is probably in my top 15 games ever.
