Ok, finished the campaign. Took me 11 hours and I would say I did a fair amount of exploration.
The first five chapters are really rough around the edges. But starting in chapter six things improve significantly. Levels are more interesting and more cleverly designed, and the game doesn't stall so much in those gore nest rooms. The story gets better too, in part because there's less of it. At the beginning the story feels very much like a Dead Space knock-off.
There are a lot of secrets and hidden rooms in the game - including old-school Doom maps - which gives the game high replay value. Weapons and perks and your suit can be upgraded. Boss battles are pretty good too.
Some things I liked:
A sense of speed and verticality
Chainsaw kills (never get old)
Focus on exploration
Some things I didn't like:
Long loading times
Rooms locked until baddies are wiped out
Slow start
Overall it's a solid campaign. Probably the weakest of the series, but still enjoyable and replayable.
As for the other features, Snapmap is great. Tons of customization options and lots of community content.
Multiplayer is probably the weakest element but it's not awful. Weapons are still woefully unbalanced and taunts are cringe-worthy but it's a nice diversion. I don't think the community will last very long.
