When shifting from 5th to 6th gen Nintendo delivered some of it's 2nd party devs to the competition...

Example: Rare.

Also the dev of Too human left Nintendo and now have the creators of Mario tennis and baseball on Gamecube left the big Kyoto based dev.

-With things turning around for Nintendo with the Wii and DS Nintendo is once again on a dev accuiring spree!

Last month they bought Monlith software... Creator of Baten kaitos 1/2 and disaster: Day of crisis, they also created then critticaly acclaimed Xenosaga and Xenogears games...

 

Now with economics for Nintendo going up they are keeping everything open for purchases or even fusions (!!!)

Mario tennis is from Camelot, and as far as I´m concerned, Camelot is still a 2nd party to Nintendo, so it develops Nintendo and PC games only. In fact, they were supposed to be making a Wii RPG.

Nintendo should buy more studios. I'd love to see more games only on the Wii.

TOKIO based? You mean Kyoto? I hope Microsoft dumps Rare due disappointing sales of their games, and Nintendo takes them as a 2nd party again.

Rare's glory days are over. Maybe they could pick it up again working with Nintendo. Those were their best years by far.

yeah! the least they could do is put all their classics on the virtual console. And if Nintendo really wants rare to make magic again, they should send Miyamoto to help developing. If anybody can recreate long gone glory, it's Miyamoto.

Rare's glory days were over because it lost so many good employees, I've included a link to their wikipedia page that talks about it.  Ever since the Xbox 360 though they seem to slowly be turning it around, their last 3 games got good reviews and hopefully Banjo-Kazooie 3 is a hit.

I think Nintendo is happy with the 300 million $$ they got when they sold their half of Rare. They probably hired the best employees from Rare anyway to work directly for one of their gaming divisions and sold the remains to Microsoft.
