Forums - Sales - SFV flops on PC...Why?

bad games at full price tend to sell very small numbers on pc.
Many Console gamers pre order physical discs when pc players generally wait on reviews and then decide to download it instantly or not buy it, steam reviews and a strong online community don't help either.

When the negativity at launch hit, this game was doomned on PC. It might still pick up with more positive reviews after patches and steam sales, many games recover at a later state PC games have long legs.

60US$ isn't cheap in any part of the World, you know How Many times you can watch a movie with 60US$ ?, in my country you can watch more than 15 Movies.

I Stated that 60US$ is too expensive to throw away, and you throw numbers of God-Tier franchises that Everyone know that will be good, but  for the other games 60US$ is too expensive to throw in something that isn't Must Have.

Lol is a Free to Play game but is by far the biggest PC Game nowdays and majority of the players are Casual players, they are spending over 2 Billions every year with the game even the game being Free to Play and not being Pay to Win, so Money isn't the problem for those people, even Free to Play games avaliable on consoles don't have those populariety, more people play League of Legends nowdays than the numbers of people who purchased a PS2.

Batman Arkhan Knight had a lot of Re-fund, but is silly to say that the game don't sold well even with Major problems, also is silly to say that the game only sold after they fixed the Problems, the game launched in June, they fixed the problems in October-November even so the game already had sold Hundreds of Thousands units, while a Well made game without a single issue like The Witcher 3, struggled to sell much more than Double of what Batman did (on Steam), even with 3 Months of Head Start, this prove that Awareness does not mean that the people will not purchase the game, people will purchase the game regardless of any Issue, and Batman Arkhan Knight's issue was by far one of the biggest issues of PC of 2015, Mortal Kombat X also was a issue, even so  the game sold over 500-600 Thousands on PC, and even being the Only fighting game other than Street Fighter on Steam, the game only have over 900 Daily users,  this wasn't a Impulsive purchase from the PC Gamers ?.

Like I said - $60 may not be cheap for you but when it comes to gaming - if its something that a player base wants - price really wouldnt matter in the end otherwise every game released would have piss poor sales in its first few months.

Batman Arkham Knight was pulled off every PC gaming store for a good 3-4 months so yes it didnt have any sales for a few months - it only came back after WB had the issues fixed. Prices stayed the same regardless when it returned and when it was doing poorly in performance.

TW3 didnt struggle at all - it sold enough to warrant to be successful. TW3 being sold on consoles more than PC is expected like I said there are more gamers willing to play something that they dont have to set up or invest more time/money than buying a console.

Games like Mortal Kombat X to your example sold well mainly because the price was discounted from its original $59.99 to $9.99 within a few months when the developer/publisher announced that there will be no more further support so its obvious why the game sold so well despite receiving bad reviews.

Expect MKX to increase even more when it becomes available in a future bundle such as Humble bundle.

There are more impulse buyers on retail than on a digital store front. It only becomes a impulse purchase when the game gets heavily discounted which I'm sure SFV will increase in sales over time when the price decreases and content increases. If anything a future bundle like mentioned above will increase its sales numbers.

Regardless - people are willing to buy games on consoles more than on PC simply because of ease of setup on a console over a PC that needs to be configured/built properly to play at max settings. Its the main reason why console versions of games sell more than PC versions. Another reason like mentioned prior from others and myself is the review system - for an example when I saw Tales of Symphonia was released on PC - I was planning to buy it until I saw the review - now i'm gonna wait till its super cheap before buying it.

Mortal Kombat X, sold more than 500 Thousands before the Company announced that will no longer support the PC, and it sold more than 250 Thousands Before any Price-cut in PC, even with the bad support, and the Game have atleast  5-6 Months with a average player per day lesser than 1000.

I Said that a game who had a horrible PC Support sold well, while a game with good PC Support struggled to sell more than it, even with 3 Months  more than Batman in the Market.

I'm not comparing console to PC, i'm comparing console to console, The Witcher 3's Sales aren't high enought for a game with Excelent PC Support against the sales of a game with poorly PC Support, Mortal Kombat X, a game from the same company had a bad PC Support (Not worse than Batman) and still sold Hundreds of Thousands of units on PC, and Full Price, while The Witcher 3, only sold 1.4-1.5 Millions on Steam (i'm only ussing Steam Numbers), I'm talking about proportion of sales between a Poor release, and a Good Release.

And of Course Street Fighter V will sell more overtime, the game is to have 5-6 Years of Support, the Developers aren't expecting just the Launch Sales.

If I Remember well Batman Arkhan Knight sold more than 300 Thousands of units on Release for PC, even with the Reviews, compared to The Witcher 3, who was the 3th best selling Triple A Game of 2015 on Steam (Sold 1.5 Millions) this is a high number for Batman, with the over 150 Thousands of sales Mortal Kombat X, a game with a bad port for PC, also is higher than what someone would call a "Flop", Mortal Kombat X, is the 2th Best Selling Triple A Fighting game of Steam.

PC Gamers also buy broken games in the launch, even when they are aware that the game is Broken, the same occur with Console gamers and both the markets have the same Awareness.

The numbers are of March 31, we are on May 9, don't think that the shipped units already sold-out ?.

With a LTD of 268K in USA last NPD, less than 100K in Japan, sales dropping quickly after the launch and a shipped figure for PS4 of ~1.25M, no.

NPD give exactly number for USA, or  this are VGChartz's Numbers ?, they said "Strong Sales Overseas" Overseas is a really big place, it can be selling more on other countries, and this Data is from 1 month and 1 week ago, i believe that atleast the shipped units sold-out.

Batman AK came bundle in with a ton of nvidia cards, those numbers are inflated.

Mortal Kombat X didn't get destroyed in the media at launch.
