Or simply a home console, don't forget that other option. And so far, the only thing in common with all the leaks and rumors from these past months have been that NX is a home console, with some leaks going as far as saying that they knew nothing about the handheld.

Which is why Nintendo has no reason to delay Pokemon because of NX.

Maybe but think of the following scenario.

NX from what has been indicated from the brief whispers from Nintendo and looking at the patent and patent notes point to more then one SKU, Iwata's last speech on the NX indicated an approach with NX that is similar to IOS governing a group of devices. Going by this scenario it's possible that rumours and leaks that normally come from when devkits are distibuted missed the portable side of things because developers recieved one devkit with tools that covers both devices instead of two separate ones regardless of which one a developers wants to develop for. Insiders aren't neccessarily the development team themselves after all so they wouldn't know.

Don't forget all the leaks also said Q4 2016 as well for release.

Your avatar tells me that you also thought that NX would launch this year, and the lack of Wii U software for this year also points to that idea. It's just that Nintendo "delayed" it to Q1 2017. Even Kimishima apologized for it!

The Nintendo statement of iOS was exactly about that, the iOS, not the ifamily. What Nintendo was working on, in my opinion, was a shared OS with common dev tools to make their teams jump from handheld to home console game projects easily and faster.

But sharing the same OS and dev tools doesn't mean sharing the same power, and devs have to know the power of the machine they are working for in order to know if they'll be able to make the game or not.

There's no need to complicate things, Nintendo will launch the NX home console first, and then the NX handheld later, which means that there's no reason to delay the new Pokemons (or any other announced 3DS game) for it.

Difference is I'm not a supposed insider or leaker, the's no Nintendo delayed it that's just an excuse people are throwing around because they guessed wrong or believed the leaks.

IOS would not come up if it's not having an inspiration on hardware as well as that's ultimately what it comes down to jumping from portable to home console is an example of this. No one is also saying both platforms have the same power either just that the's a possibility of a portable SKU, the also is a reason to delay or release Pokemon on it and that's to have a 10m seller available at launch for early momentum.

The first part of my post wasn't an attack. I also have a crown avatar, after all. And I do believe that Nintendo wanted to launch the NX for X-mas but had to delay it.

About the OD and/or hardware inspiration, I'll be honest: I pray that they are talking only about the OS. Why? Because if both machines will have the same kind of hardware, then the only option for the CPU is an ARM based processor. And despite what the marketing teams want us to believe, x86 is still more powerful than ARM, and no mobile CPU is more powerful than the 8 core Jaguar processors of the PS4/X1, and we're talking about processors that most third party devs have complained about for not being powerful enough.

If Nintendo goes that route, they better produce a dirt cheap machine because they'll have to rely almost exclusively on 1st/2nd party games as no third party will bring their games to a machine so underpowered.

Wait, arm is not good?

ARM is good for what they are designed for, but they are not powerful enough for a home console.
