Smart-assness aside, that isn't really true. Pretty much all of Wii U's best games were known about atleast a year before release. Smash, Kart, Zelda, Xenoblade, 3D World, Pikmin, Bayonetta, Yoshi, etc.

Lol, I thought it was mentioned somewhere that Nintendo said they will be holding an event to showcase the NX

 

But those are the actual reveals, revealing the reveals was something Nintendo rarely does in advance.. All the Directs are announced like 2-3 days before the actual time so I'm thinking it will be likely the same

Oh I see what you mean. Ugh I'd hate for them to do that, but now that I think about it that's probably what they will do since we technically have a date to look forward to already, March 2017. =/
