Forums - Gaming - Lets talk about the future of E3

Would be fine with the first parties having events that fans can attend in place E3

hell yes so i can go to them 4 25.00%

nah E3 is too big to be ignored 10 62.50%

i don't care how i get ... 2 12.50%

Total:16

With the news that Zelda will be the only playable Nintendo game at E3 and no NX details there and of course EA completely skipping as a whole this year for their event the weekened before E3 has really made me wonder what the future of it will be.

Nintendo and EA are definitetly moving in the direction of abandoing E3 (hell EA already has) for having their own events that fans can atttend and have full control of they can do and show. I wouldn't be surpirsed if Sony one day decides to not have attended E3 and decides to have Playstation Exprience in the summer as well as Microsoft having an Xbox anually convicition one day in fact i would love of it if Microsft and Nintendo had anually events their fans can attend even if it means sarficing E3.

popped into thread... 3 eyed crow is stairing right into my soul.... yikes! lol.

OT:  I dont understand what the point of not being apart of E3 is.

Why exactly would you not want too? are there really any advantages to doing your own show instead?

Since Nintendo is pretty much non-existent during E3 I think the show will be renamed to "E2".

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

LOL wa debately making something game of throes related my new icon but decided to settle with a cute baby crow and a GOT sig.

I'm all for E3 fading away. It's such a bloated event dominated by overlong and overblown press conferences. I like the idea of shorter presentations, more intimate settings, and Treehouse-style events. I don't really want to watch "CGI lies," to quote Jim Sterling, for six hours. I want open and honest discussions on game design, and genuine interaction between companies and consumers.

Loll I see what you did there

OP: I think e3 will continue to be a place for great announcements but its importance is certainly going down since both Nintendo and Sony are having press conferences outside of E3. I think in the future, it will still be here, just not as zomg as it once was

Believe it or not, Nintendo used to host an event called Space World which was their version of E3.

I think they're going to revisit this style of event focused on content coming to NX later on this year.

Definitely looks like Nintendo is not counting on something like E3 for their huge releases like the NX

Is a bit odd, but E3 will still be popular as ever though

yeah i already know about Space World just forgot to mention it. really hope this returning for the NX.

I love e3. Press events happening in the spam of three days and you know what's coming up for gaming the following year. Its a simple and nice formula tbh.
