Maybe in the future, but not for Pikmin 4. I'm sure they will try to reach the 1080p/60fps goal with NX, since they reached 720p/60fps with Wii U (sometimes using 2 screens while at that).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Isn't the thread posing the question if NX will support 4k resolution?

My answer to that is "not a chance."

I think it's possible, at least judging by this patent

How in the world is that image suggesting 4k resolution?

No game console will do 4k games any time soon.

PS4K maybe will at certain genres like fighting games

supplemental computing device, more power thanks to a personal server.

Man, after playing Pikmin 3, thinking about Pikmin 4 is making me even more impatient... @_@

Anyways, I seriously doubt NX will be 4K.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

The interesting part of your theory.... is that this "survey" suddenly makes sense in tandem with the patent.

http://www.techradar.com/us/news/gaming/rumored-nintendo-nx-specs-leaked-could-support-4k-streaming-1313462

They could sell the base console at about $299 to get as many consoles out on the market as possible. In theory, this could count as "4k video streaming" as it would work in a similar fashion. This would leave the base console, without an internet connection, roughly the same power of the Xbox One. This validates, to the smallest extent, a lot of the so called "leaks". Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the talk of "achievements" and making a huge deal of "online connectivity" was mentioned after this "survey". Of course I am looking too much into this, but the thought seems rather.... compelling.

Who cares?

The important thing is Pikmin 4!

Pikmin 4, Pikmin 4, Pikmin 4

There is no way that NX will play games in 4k, but 4k for media services like Hulu, Netflix...quite possible.

The NX won't have 4K capabilities with games. It will be able to output 4K on multimedia and services like Netflix and the like, but in terms of gaming, there is no reason why the NX should be 4K. Nintendo would barely use that power, and even the PS4K doesn't seem able of 4K gaming, so why bother. It would make the NX really expensive and that's the last thing Nintendo wants.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
