Hardly, beacuse NX is coming this year.

Vita will win and avoid the wooden spoon. It will sell in Japan for another 2 or 3 years. The Wii U won't be selling much anywhere after this year.

Wiiu might pass it this year, but in the long run Vita will outsell it thanks to Japan.
I wish we'd have concrete sales from Sony and Nintendo themselves, but for now we can only speculate.

I don't know that it will, at least...permanently. For the lack of support Sony has been putting behing the Vita after first year, it's been selling ok.
Nintendo, while it did support the WiiU ok, is set to abandon it in favor of NX this year. Between ongoing stock issues in Japan, wich was basically the WiiUs strongest market, it's weak performance elsewhere and a cut off fifth year, it will probably fall behind the Vita again, even if it surpasses it.

The last days of platforms are really interesting lol. It seemed obvious to me that the WiiU would pass the Vita but I guess that's not really set to happen at this point with NX coming. Then again, people also thought the PS3 would pass the Wii :P

Hasn't the Wii U stock been short in Japan for awhile now? I don't recall if they ever restocked it. That'll def hurt it in passing the Vita momentarily.

Not sure if the Wii U will ever pass Vita on VGC, but even if it does, I don't anticipate it remaining that way long-term. Vita will sell more over time, while the Wii U seems to be in the process of being phased out.

Not that it's really an interesting fight anymore...both systems have struggled too much for it really to be called a victory.

Maybe momentarily. NX will hurt the Wii U 's holiday a lot, but not necessarily to stop it from passing by by hair. 2017 would just see the Vita overtake it again as the Japanese sales will likely be ok-ish for another year, whereas Wii U will drop dead entirely.

Vita was the best selling console of Q4. Sony just didn't want to admit it because it might have overshadowed the PS4.
