Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Blue Ocean Strategy: A Breakdown of Why It's Working (editorial)

This is a thread that everyone on VGchartz should read.

John Lucas really needs to read this site in its entirety. It's practically a textbook of his philosophy on the industry. A philosophy that proves itself to be accurate by increasing degrees with every passing week, at that.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

I'm looking forward to the other parts. They should be pretty good too.

I read all of it on my cellphone when I was commuting back home.

Wow, this guy has just eloquently analyzed what so much of the industry can't. I hope many executives read this, and hopefully they can stop their companies from falling into a pit of monetary and job losses.

No surprise, this "guy" wrote some articles before Wii's launch describing exactly why "Wii will win".....

Good article.

Makes perfect sense and matches all the talk Nintendo has made pre-launch until now.

Now, if only third parties would realize where it is at and actually put forth AAA resources to match Nintendo's current mid-tier bridge building with their own ip's.

NO MORE RETARD GAMES!!!!

I remember those. It's spooky looking back on them and seeing how insightful they were.

This one has my interest most:

Disruption’s End: “Why Nintendo Must Destroy the Wii Before it Destroys Nintendo.”

This article shows that the biggest threat to Nintendo is the Wii and why the Wii must be destroyed (else it bankrupt the company). The article goes on to why there will never be a Wii 2, why the Wii will have a longer lifespan than the PS3 (and the PS2), and what exactly Nintendo’s next console will be. (Hint: It will be disruptive.)

What on earth could THAT be about?!?!?!?
I know, right? It might be some thing that will become obvoius when we read it, but right now I can't imagine Wii bankrupting Nintendo.

Edit: Bookmarked! :D

Could be funny guess why ....

For sure Nintendo is challenging the people indifference toward VG so the next Nintendo's console must surprise again ( not just an incremental step ).

Reggie said : “As many of you know, Nintendo’s way is to challenge conventional thinking. Not just for the sake of doing things differently, but to do things better. The graveyard of any industry is filled with the headstones of companies who decided to keep doing things the same old way, playing on the margin, making things a little bit better. That strategy works… for a while. But ultimately, it’s fatal. Over the years, our industry has come to accept progress by simply what is on the screen.”

So maybe Nintendo risks to lay down on Wii success ( going bankrupt with about US$ 10 billion in cash is crazy !).

Also I think that console like DS and Wii are lowering the entry point for new company to enter console-manufacturing arena...

What  do you think ?
