Forums - Nintendo - Your first playthrough of StarFox Zero should take you about 3h to 3h30 to complete & more

Thinking on it now, I wonder if this is considered a little too much to be a replayable, arcadey type game... Part of the joy of games like Star Fox and other older short games i that it's short enough you can replay it again and again, but 3 hours may be a bit too much to do in 1 sitting. I hope it can be done quicker than that...

Or they have a save feature and continue where you left off.

Free pass? Are you reading the comments? XD. About replaying levels over and over again that's not the way it is. You unlock new levels and secret bosses. It's not just replaying the same levels a hundred times. I don't know about QB, but The Order lacks any replayability, so...

I played Star Fox 64 back in the day, used to love it btw, its been awhile so I might be remembering things the wrong way, but I think there was tons of rethreading the same areas to unlock the extra levels and get to the real end boss.

Nope. There were three totally different paths. The levels are not the same, planets are different. You only repeat Corneria, which is the first planet. And even in the first level, you get to a totally different boss (I've just beaten it last week so I know what I'm talking :P). Even so, you can beat StarFox 64 in about 5/6 hours with all the planets without almost any backtracking. Then you have the option to try and beat all the planets with a high record, so you unlock all the medals and unlock hardcore mode, but this, yeah, it takes backtracking. It was like those arcade games that you want to give your best and try to beat your own records. Obviously, this game is a 2016 game so it's fitting that at least you can play all the levels in around 10 hours. That's the game's length. You could also "beat" SM3DW in 6 hours, but once you beat it you unlock a lot of different levels. It's not comparable to the linear games you mentioned, because they totally lack any replayability to unlock anything new, so they lack any exploration and it's just linearity for about 6 hours, and then?

3 and a half hours?

Wow...

At least it is not full priced.

I like and own a few star fox games but this should not be a $60 game. I just hope it doesn't stay that high so I can pick it up but knowing Nintendo it will.

and the possibily of locked DLC (via amiibo)?

I would have never imagined that the least Consumer Friendly of the Big 3 would be Nintendo (imo).

I dont like this precedent, not one bit.

Me neither. I'm worried about the Amiibo policy. Although I'll wait until I know for sure that there's not a hard mode in-game. We don't have info about it, but it doesn't help me to be less worried about it. I love hardcore mode in StarFox...

About the price, that's a Nintendo America thing. The game is 40€ in Europe, but that was a constant the entire gen. Splatoon was cheaper in here too. Well, it happened with almost every game Nintendo has released this gen. Don't ask me why.

Well, no that I checked the link, this is the version with Star Fox Guard. Isn't there a version without Guard? We can choose in here if we want it with or without it. What I mean is that 60$ is for the two games, so it's fair to count Guard into the ecuation.

There is.

It's 50 or 45 bucks without SF Guard if I remember correctly. But you'll need to wait after the first print

It's funny, I want the Guard edition in Europe and it's nowhere to be seen. And if you don't want Guard in America, you won't have an option until later haha. The point is that is not full price. The package come with another game, and if we're talking purely about length, this is included in the 60$ bundle.

Star Fox is an arcade-style game. It's not meant to be played only once.

What I got for some comments is like arcade-style games are not meant to be on 2016. Don't ask me why. It's "turn-based games" are dated all over again xDDD.
