Forums - Gaming - Should I get Dark Souls 1/2 before 3?

I wouldn't know, as I would never dare touch a dark souls game. But from what I've heard, it doesn't really matter.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

You can go straight to 3, but you should play'em all because they are great.
Demon's Souls and Bloodborne as well, specially those I'd say xP

The two best I can't play :/ dang MS and not caring about Japan..

Funny thing when you realize BraLoD hasn't played Bloodborne either. :P

I never finished Dark Souls, I just started playing it again recently so I can get into Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne in a few days. I hear mixed opinions on Dark Souls 2 so I'm a bit hesitant on that one personally (plus I've already watched other people play it a ton already)

Also, at least from Bloodborne I've saw a lot of stuff and impressions, I'm sure it's better than DSII, and it's rhe most unique since Demon's so I'm also sure Demon's Souls (the best souls) and Bloodborne are the highest prioritoes xP

Bloodborne should be a high priority in this case because Dark Souls 3 probably borrows some framework from BB, all things considered. Demon's Souls...not so much, unless you want OP to think all final bosses can be beaten by pressing one button. :P

"Final" boss.

Thanks for making this thread. I've been meaning to get around to the series as well and didn't know where to start.

For me personally I don't believe I'll have enough time to really engross myself in the story so I just want to jump in for the gameplay. I'm also including Bloodborne and the original Demon Souls into my considerations for introductions to this series. Would Bloodborne be a good start? It's the most recent mechanically (even if it is supposed to be quicker) and shouldn't be too expensive now. I also already have Dark Souls 1 and Demon Souls from GoG/PS+ but I found character creation too difficult.

You should play them in order, Demons Souls, Dark Souls 1 and 2, then Bloodborne (which is VERY different in terms of the basic gameplay mechanics) and then Dark Souls 3.

Fake King is the final boss, and he sure won't have an easy time on that

Real King is only there so you can pity his choice and choose to seal the Old One instead of giving yourself for his next pawn, it's not a real boss xP

A Real King apologist, huh? Well, nevermind. Since we're talking about endgame bosses, Fake King is still the only one who needs any kind of skill from the player, because the other three can be beaten by pressing a single (or two) button too. :P

So I've been interested in the dark souls series for awhile and Dark souls 3 is coming out soon. Should I get Dark souls in any order like 1,2 then 3 or should I just go ahead and get 3 first? Would I be missing out on any story elements or?

Well, you don't HAVE to. The thing is Dark Souls 1 and 2 are slower than what 3 will end up being. So if you like 3 a ton then you may get the wrong idea as to how the others play. Honestly, I recommend starting with Demon's Souls and working your way forward.

Then the guy go play it and it's like "Wright told the final boss is easy, just press one button", then he goes face the Fake King, he fashes toward him, grab him, throw him away and he'll be like "what, did I just lost a level?" then it may even be one wortj of his weapon requirimemt and it'll become uselss and the Fake King will just play with his corpse xP

To be fair, I never had any trouble with False King. The most problematic boss for me in Demon's Souls was that Penetrator dude.
