I missed out on the Shuriken and the Shield, but I found out about them today.
I did not however know that there was something called Shift Break. I'll have to try to this. Looks awesome, and I already had fun with the boss without those weapons.

Shift break is what Warp strike is called in the Japanese version.

There's also some kinda powerful strike you can do with the big sword that you charge up. Not sure what button or circumstance combination triggers it. I think it's Limit Break (don't know the lingo)?  Or this game's equivalent?

Also you can change your attack variation by moving your joy stick to different directions. I think you charge it by holding the circle button.

Well no that just does a two hit combo.  You have to do something to initiate the charge and then yeah, holding circle charges it further and letting go releases it.  The combat has way more going on than is explained for sure.  The blocking ability, the chargeable special attack, the game doesn't even explain the warp strike.  Depending on the combo potential the weapons bring and the other options brought by having party members, this could be a really cool combat system.

Yeah, this demo doesn't really explain the battle system but just shows you the revised controls and layout. People shouldn't be judging the whole game based on this and just judge it for what it is which is a tech demo. I'm sure the final game will showcase another tutorial like in the Duscae demo to fully explain everything in the battle system.

I combat needs to be mastered to be fully enjoyed. And that is not an easy thing to do. The demo doesn't bother to explain how things work which is a strange decision. Moving the analog to different directions while you are holding O unleashs special attacks and flips depending on the weapon. It adds dynamism to the combat. The aerial combo is difficult to pull off.

Personally I was stratified with the combat, but not the demo.

Feelsbadman ...

Whats so hard to learn? you hold Square to doge all the time and you hold circle to combo all the time

I cant wait for someone to realy explain the gameplay depth.

I think most people didnt understand it , everyone is saying " oh you just have to press this button and that's it"
