If I were to get a PS4, I would get the original version as it would be cheaper and my TV doesn't even have 4K

But would you not be even a tad interested in playing games at 4k? Getting the PS4K provides the incentive, And if you have ever seen the difference you'll know that it is a MASIVE jump, imo bigger than that of 480p to 720-1080p. It just hasn't been taken advantage of yet when it comes to gaming, Star citizen may be the first to actually make use of it and if sony is pushing 4K gaming and devs are to follow and make games for 4k instead of just upscaling, is this not a good thing and a reason to buy a PS4K so you are future proofing youself, despite paying a bit more now?

Normally, I would have some doubts, but in this case not really. If this is indeed true, the original would be cheaper so that would be wayy more appealing to me

38% would buy a PS4k or upgrade to one from their older console.
57% wont buy a PS4k or upgrade from older console/pc to it.
5% just wanted to see results / make comments.

^from this pole.

Now the PS4K currently has alot of negative online talk,... Im sure once its explained in detail, alot more than 38% will be onboard with it.

No, because I have to go out and buy a 4k tv to reek the benefits. Not worth it imo. I think both companies need to focus on software rather than hardware.

I would not bet on it. The amount of people with 4k TV's is still relatively tiny. You would be unlikely to be able to game in 4k as it would make the console too expensive and not worth an upgrade for most, if anything I would back the numbers going down not up.

Have 2 PS4's already, and would love to add a PS4K and a 4KTV to the living room.

I am really hoping for a 4TF APU and 16GB of RAM, I'll add my own 2TB SSD. Would be great to have a couple of USB 3.0 ports in the back for PSVR and an external HDD as well. There should be no need for the PSVR box with this unit.

If I can get Gran Turismo, COD, WWE, Madden, and the likes at 1440p/30 or 60fps, and upscaled to 4K, then I am going to love PS4K.

I do not have a PS4 yet since the game I would want are not out in the West yet. But maybe next year. PC and One for now. But when I do buy a PS4, it most likely will be the PS4k since that will be the only one they will sell by then I bet.

I recently got a 4k tv but I wouldnt upgrade right away. depends on how much of an upgrade it is and how it will affect my future game purchases

I would like to buy the PS4 specially for Persona 5 and Kingdom Hearts 3, but the device is so damn expensive in my country ( about USD 600) that I´d rather buy a bunch of new games for my WiiU / 3ds instead.

Playstation owner here since Janurary 2014 and I'm all in for a ps4.5/k right on release. I think its a fantastic idea and has saved me from my notions of building a gaming PC and buying into VIVE or Oculous. Can't wait for comformation. Your opinion? Please discuss.

While they are unquestionably products competing in the same space, I see the PS VR and Vive/Oculus markets as being fairly different.

$900 and up gaming PCs are a smaller niche market that cater to a more selective demographic. This is not to say that the PC gaming market overall isn't on par with, if not larger than the console market; the average gaming rig by Steam metrics just happens to be lower, making the current medium grade gaming PC and higher a smaller portion of the overall PC gaming market.

But if VR really takes off, and I'm not entirely convinced $600 VR sets are the breaking point to make that happen on a mass consumer level, it could really spur sales of medium grade and up gaming PCs. I would just see most of those mass consumer gaming PCs being prebuilt as the DIY builder niche will never be a mass market demographic.

It's interesting that some see the market introduction of an updated PS4 as a way to avoid having to go the $900+ gaming PC route for some, but it's completely understandable as it's likely to be half the price without the hassle of sourcing parts and assembling them or paying even more for pre-built.

The thing is the current PS4 will be 100% compatible with PS VR, so no need to upgrade if that's the reason.

Once I need a replacement PS4 (pre-ordered one from the initial hardware run), I'll be buying one as a 4K Blu-Ray player, which itself is a pretty small market.

I don't see the PS4K being a $600 SKU, but it it were, I would actually be looking at building a gaming PC instead as that $400 price point is what makes consoles so much friendlier as a general consumer device.

Yes. I've have a 4k TV for over a year. It's it time.
