I am shifting my gaming focus to Nintendo. Well one particular franchise at least. As I found myself out leveled in The Division by my friends (different work scheduals and they left me out to dry) and myself getting bored with my PS4 and X1 alike...I am returning to my roots.
I will be shifting my entire gaming focus to Zelda for a good time from now. I will occasionally switch it up for Uncharted 4 and the lot, but Zelda will be my focus. I only played Wind Waker half way before stopping (loved it so no idea why I stopped) and skipped Twilight Princess altogether. In fact the last game I played 100% was Majoras Mask on the N64.
Zelda history...
Legend of Zelda (beaten at the tender age of 6)
Zelda 2 (partial playthrough...will revisit)
Link to the Past (100%)
Links Awakening (100%)
Zelda 64 OoT (100%)
Majoras Mask (100%)
Wind Waker (partial...will visit this one SOON)
I skipped every other Zelda that is not on this list. As as someone who grew up on Nintendo, I did some reflection as I got bored with the meta of current gen gaming. Now while I have never been a huge supporter of Ninty on this site, I have always acknowledged the fact that Ninty games have always managed to keep their charm somehow...and perhaps that charm is what I am missing.
So I am giving Nintendo another shot. I will go on a limb and buy NX day one when it comes out. However I am going to take my time in the migration. Zelda has always held a special place in my heart, so I will be focusing on that franchise. I will start with Twilight Princess and go directly to Wind Waker from that. After that I will either complete Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Link Between Worlds, or Skyward Sword...not sure which yet. In any case I plan on replaying them ALL as my main focus for a while.
Now as for the migration back to Ninty (or the attempt at least), I will break up my Zelda games as I feel fit as to not burn myself out (gotta remain fresh for Zelda U/NX =D). When a game like Uncharted or something is not available, I will be playing my WiiU, 3DS, or jumping back to a previous Nintendo Gen. Will probably get Star Fox, Xenoblade, Mario Gallaxy 1 and 2, etc...will depend on my mood.
And no, I don't feel like I am jumping onto a sinking ship. Despite what many would have you believe, Nintendo is still a wealthy and healthy company. In fact as Sony and Microsoft keep edging toward full digital and streaming, Nintendo will likely break the mold and remain the only true console on the market (which is a very strong identity to have as long as the continue to make profit while delivering in quality).
So there you have it...Shiken is going on a Zelda binge and attempting to switch camps...did you ever think you would see the day?
