Wow, does that really happen in the story? Seems almost too hard to believe xD

Yuki is ... slightly odd.  She believes she runs off taco-power.  If she doesn't have tacos before a game then she loses her confidence.

I dunno what's funnier, that she needs tacos to function, or that tacos are even mentioned in an anime/manga story xD

It's been awhile since I posted a new manga to show, so I'll show a really small one, which looks like a fresh new title: High School Girl x Dragon

It's a very short and simple slice of life(?) story about a high school girl and... a dragon, just hanging out. That's about it really. They're very short chapters, being only a few panels long, but the art is cute and I think it's pretty funny.

So yeah, that's High School Girl x Dragon. You can check it out, ooooor.... not.

Surprised to see so much talking about Saki.

Great anime, kinda boring manga. It isn't one I can read, week to week. I need to read them in chunks.

I really disagree that the manga is boring.  I love the anime, too, especially because (like Chihayafuru) it ups the drama of the actual moves, but it also adds a LOT of fluff, I assume for pacing.  Some of it is really nice but other times I just want to see them play.  The manga is a lot more straight-forward.

It looks cute and amusing.  I'll have to remember to look it up.

I would pay money to read this spinoff, lol.

LOL, this part cracked me up. Sadatsuka returns to join the triumvarate of food torture.

I can see Rindou being a recurring character after this arc....and even after she graduates. She's Souma's perfect senpai!

So for awhile now, there were a few topics I wanted to do for the thread, but I had to do a bit of digging around my favorites, but I think I'm ready to start one now:

Favorite Moments in Manga (You've Read)

For this one, I just wanted to talk about moments in manga you've read that are such great moments, every now and then you go back to that moment and re-read it, just because it's fun to do so. Does anyone else do that? I know I do for some. One moment I love is from Koe no Katachi : the story about the boy who befriends and tries to right his wrongs he did to a deaf girl he met in elementary school. I could do multiple on just this one manga, but my no. 1 favorite moment is this one:

Such a sweet, cute and somewhat goofy moment that makes me go 'aww' everytime I read it. Now that I have the book, sometimes I flip through pages just to see this moment again.

I feel this may be a bit of a risk to do, like spolier moments for example, but I feel it's nice to share these as I think it's a good way to introduce others to different manga.

So... yeah, anyone else have these parts they love to re-fresh on every now and then?

Saki (and the spin-off, Saki: Achiga-hen - episode of side-A, which is about girls on the other side of the brackets) can be tough to read at times. It's depressing watching characters you like and care about get ripped to shreds while struggling and giving it their all.  Smart players, skilled players, brave players, but without the overwhelming talent and powers the monsters have.  It's sad.  Especially when the mangaka is so good at making you care about some of those other players.  The worst is watching them cry because they think they let down their teammates, even though no one expected them to beat the top-level players.

Those are my favorite characters, the ones willing to take the monsters head-on, even without special powers and abilities of their own, because it's for the good of the team.  They get crushed, yes, but every small win they get feels more special than the elite players walking out with a huge lead.

I'll post one more example to the topic, mostly because it's one I just love too much to not share. This one's from Horimiya : A slice a life story about how 2 people with different lives outside of school meet and develope a deep relationship with each other.

I dunno what's funnier, having the worst excuse ever, or the fact that they actually bought it... XD

You're not kidding.  That manga was incredible.  So many amazing moments.

The one that always gets me, that I still think about sometimes, is when he realized that she wasn't coming to school early to wipe nasty message off her desk, she was doing it to wipe nasty messages off his desk.  That tiny little revelation honestly made me tear up at the time and still makes my throat a little tight now.

Other than that ... this is hard.

One I can remember is from Skip Beat!  It was when Kyouko was a new actress and she got the part to play the bad girl in a remake of a super popular drama named Dark Moon.  The problem was, the original actress for the first version was constantly saying he was doing the part wrong and that she wasn't good enough.  It was really in Kyouko's head.  However, she disappeared for awhile and everyone was thinking she ran away but when she came back, she had found her own version of that character and had completely slipped into that persona.  It blew everyone away and it was so awesome.  I loved that that part.

The manga/anime had a ton of great moments.

Beyond that, I'll have to think about it and see what I can remember.
