Basically, all the characters in black/white have finished or been cancelled since this cover came out...just around two years ago. Kinda crazy how much of a refresh the magazine is going through.

I actually don't know many of those. Ichigo, Naruto, HXH, Beelzebub, The one your avatar is from whose name I can't place.

Actuallty that is about half. I didn't really care much for asssassin classroom. I couldn't see the plot. The story is a bunch of kids trying to kill an unkillable god like monster.

Toriko (dude above Naruto) ranked in the top 3 for a while, and Kochikame (unibrow dude) is basically like Jump's Homer Simpson. I don't know a few of them, but my point was more just how many series have been replaced in such a short timeframe.

Assassination Classroom is different, but it's pretty great overall, and it gets more and more interesting as the background gets fleshed out. I never read the manga, but the anime will likely be my AOTY this year.

Dang, seeing so much grey in that Jump magazine is kinda saddening. Even Toriko is ending? I never thought I'd see that.

Hopefully some fresh new material will come and continue to carry the Jump torch.

Updates!

Shokugeki: Gosh I love Erina

So, it seems that Alice, Ryou, and all the Polar Star members were also expelled. Good thing Rindou is such a dork and passed Aldini and Megumi, but dang, now we only have four main characters in this thing.

I was curious what direction the story would go with the Elite 10 characters. They started as a group of actual elite, and slowly shifted more to an organization like the Shichibukai in One Piece. Now that Souma is planning to bring himself and his friends into the group, it'll shift yet again. Looking forward to seeing the rebels get some real power. I wonder how Souma actually plans to get a majority rule though...or if he's even really planning that far ahead. Definitely looking forward to next chapter.

One Piece: Skeleton time!

Nice! Finally time for Brook to be important. I wonder how he'll get the Road Poneglyph info; can he copy it down and bring it to Robin later?

Big Mom is saying she'll let the Straw Hats go free, but wants them captured alive first. I guess she wants to put Luffy in his place after he challenged her. I'm curious how Nami's friendship with Lola will impact their confrontation with Big Mom.

Hero Academia: Hm!

So All Might doesn't plan to die just yet. Though just saying that is pretty big death flag, I'm not sure what his death really means at this point. His sacrifice during the Bakugou Rescue arc served the same purpose...though his actual death would definitely be a huge blow to Deku. It seems like it's set up to be Shigaraki that kills him...but All for One will probably return at some point as well...since he would have been killed off otherwise.

Fairy Tail: Awwww...

Um...so Natsu's cancer isn't really a cancer. I guess we knew that...but what the hell is it? A dragon? Zeref's magic? A fucking shotgun?

Natsu/Lucy is adorable though.

Seven Deadly Sins: Wha-

Well that was totally random and not foreshadowed at all. I guess King and Diane needed power-ups to match the rest of the Sins...just wish that it didn't feel so forced and dumb. Why are the bad guys suddenly teachers?

Ah well...I didn't see it coming, so that's worth something I guess. Maybe.

In other news, started a few smaller manga. Read a bit of Today's Cerberus at a friend's suggestion...and another random manga called Onideka...about a cute, haughty, blonde tsundere girl that turns into a giantess when she thinks about a boy she likes. It's pretty dumb...but it appeals to me in every single way, so I have no choice but to read it.

Reading Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san, which is basically a Love Hina harem with supernatural girls, and I just thought it was nice to see a guy taking responsibility after the standard accident where he falls on a couple of girls and ends up squeezing their boobs.  Not that owning up to his mistake got him off the hook ...

Dang, some more suggestions coming in, and I'm still trying to finish my manga backlog xD

I'll see if I can give the new mentions a look. Also, Saike Mata Shitemo got an update~

Ow! What is this feeling?

...My heart is broke.

I hope that kid was an Ichi/Hime shipper...or he's probably a Hollow now.

Wow, I'm terrible.

I read Assassination Classrom for quite some time before putting it down. Koro-sensei isn't just an unkillable monster, he's also absolutely perfect in anything he ever tries and the manga grinds your face in that fact again and again. At first, I put up with it because it created some interesting dissonance for the characters, could they still kill him after all he has done for them personally? Despite the threat that he poses to the entire world? But then it started to drag as we were constantly informed just how amazing Koro-sensei is as he pulls new abilities and powers out of his ass any time he needs them.

The final straw was when it's revealed that Koro-sensei is not a villain and the 'destroying the world' thing is not by choice. No, of course he can't be a villain he's too damn perfect.

Usually I'd agree, as I can't stand Mary Sue characters (or Gary Stu characters, in this case), but in this case, his 'perfection' is core point of his character, and is used to drive the story. I'd compare it more to Saitama in One Punch Man, even if the character is less of a parody here.

As for the last part, it takes a while to finally reveal it, but Koro-sensei's backstory definitely shines him in a different light. He definitely wasn't a flawless person before his change, and in some ways, deserved what happened to him. Looking at the story as a whole, I thought his character arc was fantastic, and his death scene was one of the emotionally charged scenes I've watched in any medium.
