Im not a fan of announceing things a 1year or more before any news about it gets out.
I think its a bad move, the sweet spot is around 6 months or so, after that you should have a reveal at least, showcaseing a prototype or some such.
Only one year? My God, the constant NX threads made it look more a lot more than that.

Yes I also would have prefered that..
But remember.. The announcement was about Nintendo going Smart device..
Try to think how the "anti nintendo brigade" would had made insane number of treads (that would translate into artickels in bigger media) about how Nintendo was dead.. doing a sega.. going 3. part.. and so.. This way he totally killed that..
It was a 1 time situation.. where they choose the best of to evils.. (as I see it)
In all honesty I think its done them some good to announce it so early but not show anything. The hype and anticaption is feverpicth right now and higher then it should be for the follow up for a dead system. As long as its proper reveal is followed by a swift release, they can capitalise on that hype.
The closest they can manage to surprise release without pissing of retailers, the better imo.

I can see that. You don't want to leave your consumers in the dark either so, that announcement did reassure people that they were going to continue in traditional gaming.
With that said, if the NX doesn't release this year, I'll be pretty salty. Only because, I'll get tired of waiting for it since it's already been known about for a year. I'm pretty sure it's coming this year tho

Yes.. :) hate to wait and imagine all sorts of things.. not even know if its handheld or a home solution.. :(
Hopefully we will know at E3..
You know if 365 NX threads were created, then i would be one for each day. Lol .
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
1 year later, I still think the NX is a toaster that connects online to tell your friends how roasted your toast is.
