...and zero marketing. Not even a tweet. Is this the best way to promote the first Nintendo app? The one that was already delayed?

I honestly ignore the best way of marketing for apps, so is this silence normal for that market?

Was the pre-registration their idea of marketing?

I guess? Although, it was limited. Or maybe am I confusing with My Nintendo? What a mess...

I mean if you're advertising a mobile game it's probably not a good sign for consumers. It'll probably end up near the top of the download charts in Japan simply by virtue of how these apps go viral.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I don't understand...

So it's the best to no promote the app?

Who knows? I've never seen many mobile apps get advertising unless they turn out to become hits. Also don't forget that Nintendo doesn't expect their mobile games to make substantial money for a while now.

Definitely odd, as My Nintendo launches alongside with Miitomo in Japan

Man this sounds weird :/
No marketing for Miitomo and My Nintendo is definitely strange. Maybe they just think it'll sell on their own without marketing...don't know how that's gonna work though.

Think about the games that are most promoted on mobile. Game of War, Clash of Kings, Candy Crush. All predatory games that take advantage of people with compulsive spending issues with HUGE coffers for advertisement because of the nature of the games. In this case advertising a mobile game by Nintendo that ISN'T Pokemon is going to do no good for them because to people in the know it comes off as disingenuous and to people not in the know it's not Pokemon so who cares.
