Forums - Sony - PSVR: Oculus Founder '$399 Is A Fair Price'

But is the number of people who has the camera enough? We dont have any numbers, but as with the Xbox that the sales started to pick up with the console without the kinekt, I would say the vast majority of people bought the PS4 without the camera, which is not cheap. So is the existing number of userbase enough for it?Even with the recent rise of units sold on amazon, it will mean nothing if that only lasts for some days.Only time will tell if this will be successful

Yes, it is enough. I think people are thinking PSVR needs to sell on console levels to be successful. It doesn't.

First of all, the camera is indeed cheap LOL (40$)

Second, the sudden rise of the Ps4 camera gives you an indication that people are indeed alert regarding any PSVR announcements so that is a good sign.

Lastly, the PSVR will be bundled with a camera, and also with a camera and a MOVE controller, so there is another group of people that will be waiting for that.

Me? I dont have a PS4 Camera, i WILL buy the PSVR bundled with everything this october.

Dooming the PSVR just because you need a 40 bucks accesory is grasping at straws at best.

Its 40 dollars in the US, its not the same for the rest of the world, which tends to be more expensive. And maybe because Im cheap(yea its mostly because of that lol) but 40 dollars is relatively alot for a acessory. With that I could buy a game for example. Not one that just released, but could buy Bloodborne now for example. Its still an extra money to be spend.

And you are wrong about the bundle. The box that the PSVR will come has only the VR equipment and will NOT be bundled with a move and a camera. In another words, if you dont have them, youre gonna need to pay more than 400 to use the PSVR.Im not grasping at straws here

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, I do hope so.I dont believe that, but I do hope.

Yup, especially because of this:

"Each sale of a PlayStation VR will generate a profit for Sony, as opposed to a loss that was foreshadowed last year, if new comments from a PlayStation executive are to be believed. (Adam Boyes)"

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/psvr-price-delivers-profit-at-each-sale-sony-exec-/1100-6435706/

I think this was the best choice. I was against Sony losing money with each unit, it would be idiotic to be in debt again after all the Ps4 success.

Now they have the opportunity to be more effient with the PSVR and all the Playstation division, generating income from all angles.

A healthy Sony is better for us gamers than a debt to the neck Sony.

Uhm...

"Sony has revealed that a PlayStation VR bundle that includes the PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move controller is coming, alongside the standalone headset."

Occulus rift comes with a XBox One controller though, counting Move towards the price for comparison isn't very accurate. A ps4 comes with a controller, a pc doesn't. In Canada the difference is $550 vs $914. The camera is $70 here . Move controllers $52 a piece. Occulus touch still unknown. So even with camera and 2 moves it's still $190 less.
The real difference is in the ps4 vs capable pc price of course.

I'll probably get an extra camera before then. I already have one but it's fixed on the tv with the cable tucked away. Another camera I can easily place somewhere else when I move the ps4 would be helpful.

This new fad, will go the same way of 3D-TV... remember PS NOW, videogame streaming that was going to be a "game-changer"...not (pun intended), like I said back then: a fad with no practical use today. I guess sheep like to be told where to go & what to eat, thinking is too hard these days ...

I meant, that is not going to be the one at 400 dollars. It will be more expensive than that.Probably at 500 dolars.

Yes, of course. That was made very clear in the conference.
