I have to side with Apple on this.
Obama doesn't have a really good track record on this sort of thing.
One of the white house staffers was criticizing obama/other politicians and other staffers anonymously and was found out by use of government resources then was fired for talking shit about people.

So I don't exactly trust any politicians' ability to resist the extremely powerful temptation with unrestrained (or too easily available) access to private data. It's too easy for them to misuse it and there's frankly not enough oversight on how private data is used.
