I thought everyone already knew this. Yet the Wii U is still selling like trash. that's what is mind boggling...it has a lot of really good games but it seems like no one really wants it.

Nintendo didn't launch it the way they should have. It should have been released with Mario Maker to at least cement the concept. Or, make a game padless SKU to lower price and still allow you to play standard games. Marketing was trash, the console was essentially a PS3.5, it just was a disaster. But let me get back on topic before you know what happens.

I just don't understand what conclusion we're supposed to draw from this. That the Wii U is the best current gen console? That it's poor sales are unwarranted? That Meta scores are flawed?

Metacritic score 80 or above:
PS4:  128 games
Wii:  56 games

Exclusives doesnt paint the entire picture.
Factor in all the games the system have, and it shows a very differntly.

Except this is strictly about exclusives.

And objectivly 128 great games would beat 20 great exclusives every time.

If you offer people more of a good thing or less of a good thing... the results are obvious.

Sorry, but that isn't a fact and you absolutely can argue against it.

Add 'for some people' on the end and you could call it a fact, but not without that.

Well, I guess so. But for this analysis using data, for this specific data, it's true and has some merit. It does have twice as many top rated exlusives that PS4 and Xbone combined. Are the games good? Who knows? But the general idea of the thread is pure in presentation.

For this exact, biased data then yes. But there's two points to make here: first, one has a one year advantage over the other. Second, this list includes SSBU and Hyrule Warriors which are available on 3DS.

So if you subtract those two, and align the launches then the PS4 has a very realistic shot at having the same number of 75+ meta critic true exclusives as Nintendo three years after launch.

That doesn't mean anything to me because those 'top' rated Wii U games isn't help me blow the dust off my Wii U.

I enjoyed Smash, Bayo2, 3D Mario etc..yet my most played and Wii U game is Mario Party 10 which is a 66 on Meta, and that's not even close to be considered as 'top' rated.

This would matter in a world where people only played exclusives.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

The problem is sheer numbers. Whether this analysis is true or not, Sony has made it seem like they are just pushing out a ton of high quality games. That is another reason why the HD remakes or updates are such a brilliant idea. Nintendo should be pushing this really hard. An easy way to fill in game gaps and it should not be too hard for them to remake these games. Expecially on the NX.

thats what happens when you have good 3rd party support, something that a Ninty home console hasnt had in a while. Lets be real no one cares. In the real world people dont care whats exclusive or not the only ones that care are in a minority and they have there minds made up already for the most part.

The Wii U only comes out on top if you throw in arbitrary conditions and mental gymnastics. The market has spoken.

I think the takeaway is that exclusives dont matter as much as people want them to. Best exclusives and the console still flops. Interesting.

I think the main conclusion one can come to is that WiiU is objectively the best second console to purchase.  When you already own one of the other two you would be best off if you bought a WiiU as your second as it will get you the most new games for your buck.  The overall list of games available, though, shows why it isn't most people's first choice of console.

Also for the above analysis to work you have to discount any games on PC, as there are a plethora of PS4/PC games that the list is taking out.  With that in mind, if you had an XboxOne and no PC you might be better off getting a PC or a PS4 rather than a WiiU.  That would make WiiU the best third choice after you get any two of PC, Xboxone, or PS4.
