It is memorial day for the Latvian soldiers who fought for free Latvia during WW2. The myth about fascism symphatizers was created by soviet communist regime that killed many thousands of innocent Latvians by the way. Some of the Latvian soldiers who fought on German side were forced to do so and some were promised by Germans that in case of victory they can build free Latvia. Yes we had some shitty people, traitors who betrayed their own and Jews, just as well we had heroes, people who risked with their own lives by letting Jews hide in their homes. I could tell stories, for example there is a town in Latvia with large density of Gypsies who have made a freaking statue to a Latvian policeman who saved their whole community, and later returned the favor by saving him from deportation to Syberia. My personal distant relative had secretly made a vegetable garden in the middle of a forest and fed war victims including Jews. I can't prove it but why would my relatives make up such story. And who am I you might ask - I am the bringer of truth.
