I actually hated Tusk and Kim Wu in Killer Instinct 2, back in the day. I didn't like their style. Hope they both are more fun to play this time around. I need to get into this game. Ibought the first two seasons (because I love throwing away money, apparently) and I'm way behind the curve.

The graphics themselves are fine and I like the ice level design. However, the character design is ... kind of bland, I guess, visually speaking. His short pants make him look like a modern wrestler with a Viking gimmick. Not every character design is going to be great but I think you expect more when they come in waves.

His hair, though, that was pretty bad. Looks like PS2 fighting game hair that barely moved.

Killer Instinct as a whole looks fantastic but somehow Tusk looks really bad compared to the rest of the cast.

Thoughts on his new design?

Well, saying that the graphics are underwhelming is an understatement.

These type of visuals on a AAA game in 2016 shouldnt be celebrated.

Compared to other games in the genre, its amongst the best. I say that as someone who owns KI, MKX, and SFV.

They all look good, but none of them are winning awards for best 8th gen graphics.

100%, this.

When I first got SFV, I said "This doesn't look much better that SFIV".  Then, I downloaded SFIV for PS4 and suddenly I could see the difference.  But, I digress.  Back on topic, when I played SFV I was pretty disappointed.  There where characters dancing around in the background but NONE of them had shadows!  People's faces and hair was clipping through their clothing like crazy.  Lips never matched what they were saying.

Yes, it looks good as a whole but the fighting games I played this gen (all two of them) aren't going to set the world on fire with their graphics.  Luckily, they play great and the online is good, for the most part.

Its also worth noting SFIV originally came out in 2008. Maybe newer versions tweaked the graphics, but not much. You're comparing 2008 graphics to next gen 2016. The biggest disparity I see between IV and V is lighting effects.

On top of the things you mentioned, the background animations in SFV are 30 fps and the shadows on the fighters have dithering (low quality shadows to boost performance). These are things I imagine will be addressed in future updates. Its surprsingly unpolished but its also a work in progress. KI has had visual updates via patches.
