Forums - Sony - Sony’s Yoshida Suprised By Oculus Rift Price

Anything under $500 combined and I'll be an early adapter.

Around the Network

I still wonder how limited this will be given how comparably weak the ps4 hardware already is... It just seems hard to believe this console would be capable of truly impressive VR when you see the suggested hardware specs for the other available VR; heck, it's often still a struggle to run a normal game at 1080p with 60 fps.

That said, while I'm just about done upgrading my PC and it would be capable of handling the rift or htc, those prices are too high for me to buy in. I'll wait until I see some reviews, and personally I'm hoping Sony somehow proves me wrong and I can just get their VR for the time being.

Sony must have seen something to green light the project and so many games, so while I can't see how it's feasible for the ps4 to handle VR well, I'm gonna ignore that and cling to optimism lol

do you mean bundled with the PS4 or simply all necessary/additional hw (HMD + breakout box + camera + moves + maybe pack in games) ?

Simply the unit + camera. I have the PS4 and moves.

Yeah, it is a bit of a shocker. 600 USDs is just too much honestly...

it definitely is too much for mass market appeal, but it seems they priced it right for the scale of their production seeing how units preordered now will be sent in July or later

when they want to and can go bigger in production they'll probably have to use a lower price

yea, I agree that those should retail for (significantly) less than $500, if Sony wants PSVR to quickly gain traction

I agree there. I feel too if they want to get into the main market, they'll need to lower it some. I dunno if people will spend 600 on it..
