There are a wide variety of things you can do. However, there is 1 important thing- having Japanese around you.

if you were to learn Japanese, but stay around English-speakers and English only, it'll make it more difficult for you to soak up the words and lessons you learned.

If you were to learn Japanese, but allow Japanese-speakers and japanese shows and whatnot to surround you, it'll make it easier to force you to use the language, learning new words as well as you attempt to master Japanese.

Have cash to get a professional software? Try Rosetta stone.

Don't want to spend money? Use http://www.memrise.com/home/ I am going to try to learn some languages with it. I already know 3, so hopefully I can expand my languages to 4+

Ah thanks! I'll start (begrudgingly) playing subbed games and watch subbed anime instead of dubbed. And I'll look into language learning software. How did you learn so many languages?

1. Look, allowing yourself to be exposed to Japanese is important. Trying to read a Japanese book, listening to common phrased, etc etc. Sounds like I'm treating you similar to a child, but this truly helps you with learning a new language.

Also, I don't really know how I learned the languages. I had speaking issues(I only began speaking at age 4), and studdered a lot most of the time. Though, i didn't give up. I learned English and Arabic fluently, forgot Persian(no one I knew could speak it), and now am decent at Hebrew. Once I return to Jerusalem, I am going to attempt to learn Russian, then Japanese. Maybe in my years in college I'll spanish as well.

You aren't! My father is fluent in 5 languages, and he has told me similar things. You aren't treating me like a child at all!

Ah, ok. Nice to hear.

When you learn more languages, it really helps you connect with people. When I finally mastered both English and Arabic, I got to experience different cultures as well. For English, I got to see all the different people from European origin, ranging from Great Britian to Italy. As for Arabic, I had the oppurtunity to learn different forms of Arabic, understanding the culture of not only my original country, but the cultures of neighboring countries as well.
