The universal windows platform is not really a threat to anything. It has been delayed so many times and doesn't really have any support among devs. It will probably die on its own peacefully much like metro apps did.

Actually no they don't MS has signed a legally binding agreement with the department of justice where they agreed to keep Windows an open platform indefinitely. That's what happens when you break the law. Maybe next time.

Man you don't really know what you're talking about do you? MS barely escaped being dissolved into multiple companies. They have a monopoly and in exchange for not being completely liquidated they agreed to many conditions for their continued existence.

Except, you know, governments that set laws and regulations to protect consumers. Microsoft don't have completely free reign whilst we have laws in place. |
Microsoft, need to follow the Law from the USA, or they also need to follow the Laws of every country that Windows is avaliable to ?.

Uh.. no? Other DD platforms will still exist. You can still release games elsewhere.
Not really. Pocket computers(phones) are a huge force in our modern world. Unless Windows fix their horrendous phones and give a reason to get a laptop/computer, then I don't see them becoming a monopoly.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Every country they want to sell Windows
Will they prevent .exe from running on windows?
If not, they are in no way monopolise development for pc.
Its an open ecosystem from what I am hearing so no. This does mean that Xbox Devs can push way above the boundaries with there own games now that there not locked to console hardware. I am actually looking forward to seeing how good Xbox games sell now and how well they can get them to look too. MS are chasing the bigger fish in the gaming market and that's Steam. Steam make a future on a service and they don't do anything, MS will be doing the same.
