Forums - Microsoft - Quantum Break TV episodes will be streamed, not on disc

Developer Remedy has explained that the decision to stream the episodes was taken to save disc and hard drive space.

Streaming was chosen as the main method of delivering the episodes, however, beacuse there are so many different versions of each scene. Whereas Quantum Break's game levels follow its hero, the time manipulation shooter's TV episodes tell the story of its villain. Story elements are influenced by the gameplay choices you make.

"We have 40 different variations of the show in total where basically your choices get to make it evolve and change whether it's from a junction choice or we have these things called 'Quantum Ripples' which essentially unlocked sort of deleted scenes from the show," Remedy narrative designer Greg Louden said.

"Then combined with that, the show length can change based on your decisions because some episodes are longer as a result and some episodes are shorter. It basically evolves and that's why we needed to stream it.

When asked if an option will exist for those wanting to download it, Louden says that it will only be offered on the Xbox One version, but the Windows 10 version does feature 4K resolution, making the video size all the more substantial.

Shame this game is Xone/PC exclusive it looks very good and this sounds awesome to. Oh well one can't play all, every MS fan at VGcharts buy this game so MS makes another franchise out of it.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

What about people who buy this and don't have the internet?

The PS5 Exists.

To be fair, and while this TV episode concept sounds awesome, I couldn't care less about it if I weren't able to download it. I'm not one to watch TV episodes, I just want to play the game.

So I'm guessing that while you can't enjoy the full story, you still get the game, which I think it's the main reason everyone is getting Quantum Break.

I'll just download them to my Xbone.

Errr, I guess they dont buy it....  the same as any other game that requires the internet or is enhanced by the internet?

I'd love to know what % of people have an xbox one and no internet.  Do we think about 5% perhaps?  less?

That's alright then. We'll probably hear nothing more of it ...

Of course we do. But it will not be X1 owners without internet access who'll complain about it 😊
