It's so awful how Microsoft has handled its gaming business in the last 15 years. Instead of playing to the strengths of both the Xbox and PC platforms, they're fusing them together making Xbox essentially a low end pc. They're doing this because the Xbox is struggling, the Xbox is struggling because they don't have many games compelling people to buy their system, because they don't have many AAA studios. MS had enough time to diversify their 1st party studio portfolio, they're feeling this now that 3rd party deals are much harder to do with the PS4.

What should've happened: 1. not close Ensemble 2. make PC oriented games 3. Steam could've been Microsoft's for chrisssake, it should've been there since Windows 98.

Gabe Newel, was a Microsoft's employer isn't ?, i think that would be better if Microsoft, hired him and made Steam, together with Gabe, but they lost their biggest chance, Steam, became something so Huge on PC, that no other Triple A Digital distribution, will be more popular, on Steam, you can get Dota, Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead, Portal, Half-life, and the better deals of the Internet, how someone can compete agaist it ?, Microsoft, cannot make Minecraft, exclusive for Windows Store, because they paid 2.5 Billions for it and need any money, to get the Money back, if Microsoft, was a Windows Store only tittle, then maybe they would have some chance.

I hate this kind of polls

I do believe the Xbox will have a successor. But I don't believe what is happening is enhanciing the brand. SO what do I do?

Anyway, the Xbox has been conceived for the living rooms, and the Steam machines won't replace a gaming console. So I believe their will be another Xbox.

I don't see that "dream" ever coming true considering how Gabe left to differences with MS and then years later still talking of his differences with MS and not agreeing with them, last thing we'll ever see IS Gabe joyfully shaking hands and getting cosy with MS. Steam is never likely to be onwed under and only by MS at the end of the day.

MS could start with trying to make PC type studios once more instead of killing them off like they had done some years back if they want to compete rather than simply buying everything out or buying already existing games.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Gabe have much more money now than Microsoft, is willing to give for Gaming, Gabe, have 2+ Billions on Revenue of Steam, and Already made Multiple Billions with Steam, have games that already sold Dozens of Millions of Units, and i think that he made atleast a Dozen of Billion with the Games Gabe, have.

Microsoft's Maximum attempt was Minecraft, 2.5 Billions of US$, and still don't get the Money back, so they don't have the Reasons to Burn money on a Division, that still does not paid the last Crazy Aquisition.

MS still have the most money for being a bigger corp, Valve is a private one at that.

They spent money on a single game IP, I'm sure they could afford to spend a lot less on an IP to create a small studio or two, Ensemble didn't cost billions to make, not everything does, MS only offered that much while Notch didn't even make any sort of mention as to how much he wanted.

MS isn't going to get Gabe on their side or Steam to cease to exist or merge exclusively with MS. MS is going to have to make things on their own from the ground up in order to compete and spend some good long years working hard at it.

It appears that they are trying to dip their fingers into more pots of honey in the hopes of additional gaming revenue. I don't see this move as detrimental to their console future though. The majority that game on consoles will pretty much continue to do so (I know I will).

I dont understand why Microsoft is pushing the "Uni-Platform" move slooowly, game by game like nobody is noticing.

Phil Spencer should be clear with his strategy and explain it to the consumers as it is so there are no surprises and silly boycotts in the future.

People deserve to know what they are buying, if the Xbox One will convert basically into a low-end PC with no exclusives, at the very least the consumers that already have a gaming rig should be aware of this fact.

Honestly if I had bought a Xbox one for 499$ Id be angry now.
That money could have been put to better use on upgradeing your PC.

^^ This

Well news broke that they may not consider releasing a new xbox but allow us to upgrade the current one. They are also trying to fuse the two together so that one can't distinguish one from the other SMDH.

I understand Microsoft going windows only will damage their software potential as they miss out on Steam. But why.

Why do certain pc gamers decide not to buy games they want and like just because it's not on Steam. Does it really matter to them? I just don't get the reasoning behind this. Isn't the whole point of building a pc the fact that you have multiple options and are not locked down to any one thing. So why when it Comes to where you buy your game from does it have to be steam? Genuinely interested to know.

I think there is a real fear in the PC community of Microsoft's intentions after they attempted to charge for Live on PC. The Steam storefront is actually a lot better as Microsoft addressed this week regarding wanti g to improve it. Plus, there seems to be pessimism about the free to play model. Plus there are many many complaints about Microsoft's past PC support in general.

Yeah good point.  But unless they start charging they shouldn't be put off.  Like if I game only on pc and Microsoft release quantum break on Windows 10 and I want that game.  Am I really going to let the name of the store it's sold on stop me buying it?

It's like ,  oh look quantum break is gamestop exclusive,  I refuse to buy it.
