It sounds like a "smart console",.... like the tablet is the console.

Don't think it's the whole console. Looks like a WiiU pad and what might be the NX handheld.

If these rumours are true, it looks like Nintendo are doubling down on their mobile investment.

The reason I don't believe it's the whole console is due to a lack of a disc drive and Space for a big HDD. If Nintendo want to make a console as powerful as the X1, they will have games that will take up space. I don't think Nintendo will go full digital either.

It was quite believable till you pointed that out. There is no way they could have xbox one level games without a rather large hard drive. Theyve also stated that physical is still part of their future multiple times

You realise that Wii U Basic have only around 2GB space, and yet you can play almost any game that is released without need for external drive.

Device like this from rumour would definitely have SD or MicroSD card reader and USB for external storage, and we already having memory cards with 512GB of storage, I dont say people will buy 512GB for that device, but currently you can buy 32GB SD card (Wii U premium has 26GB of storage) for less than $10 and prices are just keep falling like rocks.

I could easily Nintendo shipping device like this with 64GB of storage and consumers could easily increase that storage with SD card, USB stick or some different kind of external device, while Nintendo would use memory cards for games, same like 3DS is doing that.

"latest" imaginary info. Untill we hear anything from nintendo, these leaks should be ignored.

All I want to see is that it costs more than $300.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Oh boy, WiiU x50 and VITA x100 - so it's (depending who you believe) 8.8/17.6TFLOPS when compared to WiiU or 5.12TFLOPS when compared to VITA.

Also, X1 level specs in handheld - yeah, even Apple won't have such device by 2017, and this is Nintendo that is traditionally conservative with handheld hardware.

I defintely think that's a misquote while it was being translated and there's an extra "0" on the end of those.

There are $1,000 GPUs out now that still aren't 17 TFLOPS.  Not happening in a $300 - $400 console / handheld tablet-console hybrid.

10x Vita, and 5x Wii U = 512 GFLOP, and 1.76 TFLOPS.  Well mobile hardware in smartphones and tablets are leaving the 300 GFLOP range and hitting the 400 - 500+ range in 2016 devices, so that lines up perfectly with the 10x Vita.  And 5x Wii U is 1.76 TFLOPS aka 0.08 TFLOPS less than PS4, but the difference is negligible in overall performance.

Those specs make much more sense, and it means Nintendo is making a "high-end" portable and a "current-gen comparable" console, both of which should retail for around $250 at launch, which is a much better set-up for them, and a much easier buy for their consumers.

Technology moves on so quickly I could see the nx being almost as described,

Haven't Nintendo announced they will not be having optical disk drives? That removes almost all requirement for a hard drive, besides the OS everything else could be cart based, saves would be on the game cartridge, the game would need no pre installation which is done to reduce load times.. In fact, a game could run better even with less than ps4 / XBO specs for that reason alone.

Also no need for a large hard drive, coupled with modern micro components will reduce power usage, increasing battery life and reducing heat.

The only place you could poke holes in this rumour is really on the subject of multi player on the same console.. Will you be able to use wii remotes again? How about the wii U controller?

Either of these things would significantly reduce the real cost of the system even if it breaks the £300 mark.

People saying the OP has to be wrong because smart devices can't be that powerful are grasping at straws, the technology is already there. Games companies are already complaining about the onerous cost of modern graphics, pitching for XBO levels is probably smart.

Finally an NX rumour that is really interesting.

All the things described are rather innovative while adhering to mainstream play style (sort of). But if it really is a hybrid console it could really work with the features listed.

My only concerns are PRICE, PORTABILITY and TECHNOLOGICALLY POSSIBLE.
Can something like this exist with modern tech (mainly I am worried about battery life since nothing really does that well).
If it can be used as a controller for TV gameplay how big/small is it so people would carry it in their pockets like they would a phone.

I am reminded of that patent of a button-less controller. Perhaps the NX itself is like a digital hub which connects to a cloud system. But then people would prefer a more traditional controller...

BAH too many questions but this is some nice food for though.

For the record, Geno is also the guy who "leaked" Pokemon Plus and Minus.

Sorry to break it to you all. And myself.

What the hell does WiiU x50 even mean? Power? That would put it way above the PS4...

I am also not sure what they thought with that comparison, X1 is around 4-5x stronger than Wii U, vile PS4 around 6-7x stronger than Wii U.

There were never official claims about wii u's raw power but it's safe to say the difference is much smaller than that.
