That literally makes no sense as it is shown to be coming to 3DS. They could easily have shown off footage of the 3DS version.

Great, nice to know about it. I'll speak for the devil in here, but I think if the NX handheld is true, it would be in its benefit to make a dual release.

Since Zelda U has been in discussion to release on Wii U and NX, then why shouldn't Sun and Moon launch on 3DS and NX?

In my mind, the NX could be anything. They're expecting to ship 12 million of those bad boys within the first year. It's probably cheap as dirt and full of gimmicks. Then again Square Enix and other devs talk about developing on it so the technology needed must have fallen in price considerably. I'll wait for E3 to see what NX is before I make that decision.
