Forums - Gaming - Is Red Dead Revolver the most forgotten major game ever?

Red Dead Revolver wasn't a major game and the reason its mostly forgotten since it was a late release on both the PS2 and X1. That being said if it would have stayed with Capcom it probably would have sold even less. One thing is for certain it has a brilliant soundtrack even though none of the songs are original.

Now this is a Rockstar game that deserves a remake. Whereas Redemption was GTA-in-the-wild-west, Revolver was Max-Payne-in-the-wild-west. It had its issues, and i remember feeling it was kind rushed. The again it had a complicated development with the company switch and stuff. Also no one played it. But the game was awesome. A remake would do justice to this title, with gameplay similar to Max Payne 3 and keeping the Arcadey feeling.

Forgotten prequel? How about forgotten original series? There are plenty of people I have met who don't even know that the Metal Gear franchise predates the Metal Gear Solid series :P

Don't know if this counts but

Metal Gear -> Metal Gear 2 -> Metal Gear Solid -> Metal Gear Solid 2

Super Mario 64 -> Super Mario Sunshine -> Super Mario Galaxy -> Super Mario Galaxy 2

Good point on Metal Gear, I loved the original, but I'd guess most people do think it started with Solid on PS1.

The Mario games are like mini series with the "Bros., World, 64, Sunshine, "NEW", Galaxy, Land" etc. so could easily have Galaxy 3 or Bros. 4  similar to how Sonic had Adventure 1 & 2 after 3 Sonic titles.

Red Dead could become that, I guess we need a third and fourth entry to see any real trend in terms of naming in the series.

I choose to ignore it because I never played it.

However we are right in calling a new game red dead Redemption 2 or red dead 2 because the second game wasn't numbered as 2.

Like it went gta 3, gta vice city, gta San andreas. We called the next gta 4 not gta 6 so go figure.

Rockstar may have still called the next GTA after San Andreas 4, but Nintendo went with Mario Kart 7 despite not numbering numerous entries before that. So it's been done both ways before.

Yeah it can go both ways which means I'm right.  People have every right to call it red dead 2

Except I expect the majority of people calling it red dead 2, rather than your line of thinking, don't even remember that the original red dead existed.

It doesn't really matter if they do or don't though.  it's like most don't remember all the old cods but they can't be expected to call black ops 3, Call of Duty 17 or whatever. There was a red dead,  then a read dead Redemption and if they make a Redemption 2 then cool.

Maybe it will not be numbered at all and be called red dead *xxxxxxxx*.

What about Wasteland, the prequel to Fallout?

How about the first major indie game that started the movement on consoles, fl0w?
