I think what Fighters have become is stable. Series have their dedicated fanbases, which is keeping them alive, while attracting new ones with each iteration. Graphics and gameplay are improved as time goes on but it's stable because there are no 'new' fighting games released, they are all (now) long running series. Question should be, is that a bad thing?

I'll add, I think Soul Calibur's day is done.

Hmm, pie.

The fighting genre was dead until SF4 arrived in 2009, it came at the right time when people starved for them. Since then we've seen a deluge of fighting games. Imo there's too much, and then there's tons of anime fighters getting localized, can't keep up. Just this year SF5, MK XL, Pokken, Tekken 7, GG Revelator, Naruto UNS4, KOF14, Blazblue CentralFiction. There's also rumours about a new Soul Calibur. I hope they sell well.

Also I know they said they won't do it but I hope Capcom brings out a new retail version of SF5 when there's more content, say a year or 2 from now on, to get better review scores. It's a shame where it is now, as it has solid 9/10 gameplay.

Nitroplus blasters, SFV, Blade of Arcus, Dengeki Bunko Ignition, GGXrd: Revelator, BBCF, KOF14, Tekken 7 and ChaosCode ( ps4) all releasing this year.

That´s alot of figthing games.

Some of you guys have noted that I missed a couple of fighting games including KoF 14 and Tekken 7. Its not that I forgot it, especially the ones I'm mentioning now, its just mainly that the information of the games I mentioned and the state is much more available than those, at least from what I've seen.

I did mention in the OP to note that but discuss them anyway if they can bring a point of substance rather than just naming them off, but formatting issues made me cut everything in half, and I must have deleted it by mistake. I had removed my opinions too, I might add them in as well.

Also I messed up bad in the poll I originally had it 'rise' and 'fall' instead of yes and no to better reflect the title of the thread, but I negligibly put the latter options when redoing it. Since many people are just responding to no, to the fall of fighters I'll just change the title to better reflect that my bad.

I don't see the genre falling tbh, not in the same way it did for the RTS genre. SFV will do well once it;s content is all out there and as long as Capcom keeps milking the game before the next SF.

I dunno about MK though, the whole pushing away PC users wasn't exactly the best idea nor was it a welcome one either.

That's pretty much how I feel. In fact, in spite of everything, I think MKX is the one I defintely dislike because the devs basically abandoned that portion whilst supporting just on consoles. That on top of DLC and preorder policies.

I completely forgot about all the DLC pre-order and general purchases, do any PC gamers even get refunded from WB since PC isn't getting any content or support from the few weeks back notice?. On the bright side it's nice to see Capcom and Arc still giving their support for PC, WB will only lose out in the end like they will with their other titles.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

It wouldn't suprise me if all those reviewers that are giving SFV a sub 80 score will end up doing a re-review when all content it released and you'll find they will give the game a 80+ score. The gameplay is the best a street fighter has ever been but sadly lack of content has damaged its review scores and completely eclipsed the fact that it plays amazing.

"After just four days of registration, Street Fighter V broke the Evolution Championship Series’ attendance record for one game. Now, four days later, it’s surpassed another milestone.

This morning, Evo organizer Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar tweeted his surprise at the current numbers. While an exact figure wasn’t mentioned, photographer Robert Paul asked if, perhaps, over 3,000 players have registered for Street Fighter V, to which Cuellar responded with an affirmative image.

Before this, Ultra Street Fighter IV held the record for most participants at 2,227 individual competitors. Street Fighter V appears to be a worthy successor to that legacy, with numbers impressive enough to warrant its appearance at the massive Mandalay Bay arena. Let’s go.

Evo 2016 is scheduled for July 15-17 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Further details can be found here."

*details about the fighting game community*

"Many people have said in the past that fighting games as a genre are dead. No longer mainstream. In the span of two and a half years, we have gotten a lot a lot and will get a lot of big titles. However, there has been a lot of twist and turns. This thread focuses [mainly] on the games rather than the community, as the communities are a major subject"

Please read the OP and a bunch of the other comments here. You seem to misundertand the thread

I've already provided a comment, earlier in the thread.  Please read that comment.  This was merely to provide some substance to the discussion.

...Maybe I should be clearer. "Please read the OP and a bunch of other comments" from other people. I wouldn't ask you you to look at other comments and say you misunderstood the thread if I myself did not read through this thread I made. Its pretty clear that I read through the comments too since I made a comment after my OP, adressing what people had said thus far.

You on the other hand, are a different story. From your first post: you were talking about the fighting community. I didn't bother making very clear to you specifcally that the thread  not about the fighting commmunity because you mmentioned it so little at the time it would have been nitpicking to bother with a sentence or two when everything thing else was actually on topic and I asssumed you would at thatt point actually take time time to read the OP.

However, your second post, the one where you copy a tweet, the one that at the time I originally saw it, it looked like saw the thread that was being made about the tweet and then copy and pasted it here. It was rather obvious then you never read the OP and just saw the title of the thread. I was going to tell you to read the OP then, however, you were banned for whatever reason. I decided it would be a waste of time to tell you anything at that time and figured that if you came back to the thread, you would look at the OP. I then went on to adress everyone else's comments and edited the title in case you came back or someone just happened to comment based on the title Yes, specifcially for you I updated the title to emphasize this was about games.

However, here you are again harping on something that was never part of the thread, that was never part of the disccussion or even a part of the discussion in the thread.

Speaking of discussion, you claim your previous statement was "merely to provide some substance to the discussion", but when we actually look at what you what's in the post, all you did was copy and paste info about Evo particpants and then put "/thread". Pray tell, if someone wanted to add substance to a discussion (a discussion that clearly is not about the information provided), why would they add "/thread"? They wouldn't. Nor would you. You were simply so eager to dismiss a question that you somehow assumed was being asked because you didn't want to accept the opposition. And as I have said, now time and time again, you are misinforming yourself and jumping to conclusions andacting upon said conclusions.

What I find especially ridiculous about all this is that you probably never took 2 seconds to read another comment here even being asked to, but you are asking me to read yours as if I'm being ignorant.
