Let's get a few things clear: People who already or are planning to own an XB1 aren't wasting their money. There are still games to play here. The issue here is that, as a console, it is waning in significance. There becomes only a few scenerios in which XB1 is the right choice for a gamer: Someone whose friends all play on Xbox, someone who likes Microsoft exclusives but doesn't want to play on PC, or someone who is simply an Xbox faithful.

Tell me one thing... is my laptop irrelevant because it does the same thing my PC does? To me it's just another device to play my games on. The right choice for a gamer is to get the device that plays the games he/she wants. Most people buy GTA, COD, Fifa etc but would you tell them that they made the wrong choice because these games are also available on PC?
The most important thing for a gamer is supposed to be the games he's gonna play not the device they're on. If the console he bought can't play the games he/she wants then they made a bad choice. What MS seems to provide here is a choice. Like you don't have to buy a desktop rig to browse the internet. You can do so on multiple devices. Are tablets losing significance because PCs can browse?
