Daybreak studios is what used to be Sony Online Entertainment before Sony proper sold off the division. The studio is famous for games such as Everquest, DC Universe, etc. The idea of a studio that concentrated exclusively on making MMOs always seemed risky to say the least but they somehow managed pretty well. After the sell off though and name change, the studio pretty much went completely dark. Not a peep has been heard of them...until now...
Daybreak has just re-revealed their latest title they were working on, H1Z1. For context H1Z1 was created as a FTP(maybe) Survival MMO. Players would be able to create a character armed with just their trusty backpack. Anything worthwhile would need to be salvaged, stolen, or created. Players had the free will to attack or befriend others on sight. One can build bases to increase odds of survival. Food and Water were necessary. Zombies were the main antagonist, where if a player is killed by one they lose their backpack in the spot where they died. The backpack at that point can only be retrieved if player travels back to that point and then faces off with a zombified version of themself. A concept of supply drops was being implimented where you could just gain supplies to stay alive, but the risk of enemies swiping it before you was present. Overall it was shaping into something I anticipated. It was slated to eventually be released for both PS4 and PC, this was back when they were SOE.
Now the game has resurfaced as 2 different games. H1Z1: King of the Kill. For PS4,XB1, and PC. And another version called H1Z1:Just Survival currently announced for PC.
