Forums - Sony - PS4 3.5 Firmware Feature Prediction Thread

With the announcement of the upcoming beta, and us coming up on our bi-annual firmware window -- Lets try to predict what features will actually be announced.

PLEASE NO TROLLING WITH COMMENTS LIKE: "Stability Updates."

I personally think we will see:

- The launch of the official PS4 remote play application for PC/Mac. (Possibly the open launch of remote play on non Sony Android devices for $9.99).
- Appear offline mode
- Some fixes to the shitty community/ friend group system
- PSVR integration (may be bundled in, but not mentioned)
- Folders
- Remote play update that allows local microphone input to pass through to the ps4 (so that party chat while on remote play doesn't suck)
- Vita updates that allow the DS4 to act as a remote for the PSTV
- Further PS Vue integration/ Roll Out

Good Maybes:

- PSOne Classics
- External Hard Drive Support
- Name Changes

Don't they already have some classics? I feel like name changes just can't happen given how long it's been the most requested feature. I'm really hoping the community thing is fixed. I've joined certain ones like 20 times and yet I'm never shown as a member.

A media player that can play more than 5 mins of a avi file without requiring a few restarts would rock.

PSone disk compatibility would be great and so easily achievable... but really unlikely to happen.

Perhaps an update to allow some usb fightsticks from the PC, considering the launch of SFV it could be cool, win over some more of the fighting game community.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Remote play PC app that also acts as a media server allowing you to organize and create playlists.
Folders
Twitch Dedicated App (supposed to be out in October 15)
Background Pics
Online Status Setting

No VR stuff. This is for the June launch and FW 4.0

I don't know why they wouldn't allow PS1 disks. As of right now, they haven't tried to monotize a new "upgraded" version of them (and it probably wouldn't sell considering how shitty they'd look).

Adding a generic physical and digital emulator would allow them to monotize and make money off the vast library of PSOne classics already on PSN.

Since November 2013, PS has been doing 0.5 version upgrades ~ every 6 months. Each one of these has provided some sort of major feature (even if we complain about the communities... they still launched it).
