Ok, so looking at just this generation then (not this and the previous one as you stated). We don't even know how the NX would work so at the moment handheld sales are irrelevant, considering that a game like FFXV can't be done on a handheld. And neither wii nor wiiu got a mainline ff game.

I still think it'll probablly come to NX but not because of the reasons you listed.

I looking both generation, but I currently don't have numbers for previous gen, but definitely Wii + DS sold much more than PS3 + PSP.

I don't agree that game like FFXV cant be done on handheld.

lol FFXV is not coming on handheld. Please now.

Wouldn't surprise me. After the success of 3DS in Japan, NX is the last hope now.

It's impossible because not everything can be downported to the handheld and some would be very hard to do. It's terrible because exclusives are necessary.

They are exclusive to Nintendo. And even if some of the bigger projects have to be left for home console due to power limitations, that leaves us with a handheld that could play most of the NX games. Probably 3rd parties would also take the time to make their games work on the handhelds: they know that's where most of the audience is going and will take advantage of the main NX feature (it can double as a handheld). This would be specially interesting for JRPGs or games with the japanese market in mind. Per example, if the NX handheld can play FF VII remake without major downsides, that is the version SE are going to push in Japan.

That's even more impossible than sharing all games. There's no such thing as a home console doubling as a handheld, yet you and others talk like it's true.

Poor choice of words. What I meant was an unified family of systems, all with the same architecture. The handheld can play the games of the home console, and viceversa.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Love how people like you mention completely different scenarios with no argumentation. This was discussed to hell and back already, snake's presence in brawl is way different than cloud's.

Ok, so more like Ryu then?

Ryu is the same as snake: already had big presence with nintendo, meaning it's smash bros appearance doesn't need to mean anything. And in ryu's case it's still too soon to say it didn't mean any other deal. FF7, however, never released on a nintendo console.

You're really pulling at straws. Sounds like you simply don't want FF7R and others on a nintendo console.

That's not how things work. Same architeture eases the job in some cases but it still has to be done. Other cases remain impossible or too costly even with the same architeture.

Snake was actually meant to be in Melee but was submitted too late in it's development so he was included in Brawl instead, GC eventually got Twin Snakes.

wouldn't help them much as far as ffxv is concerned because they would for sure get it later then the ps4 does and i'm certainly not waiting for it. they would need something exclusive or at least timed exclusive.

No, sounds more like you're jumping to conclusions.

Snake had a big presence with ninty? don't make me laugh.

Also, based on what Capcom have stated, SFV will be console exclusive (they also clarified that there won't be a SFV turbo version for any other console).

For your information, I have no problem with FFVIIR or FFXV coming to the next ninty console. Since they stated it's only debuting on a ps console, it's defnitely coming to either xb, nx or both? If it's not gonna be an exclusive, they may as well release it on as many platforms as possible so that they can make a profit considering how expensive these games have gotten.

That's actually quite intersting.

Still it shows that it (a chracter in smash )could mean nothing. For all we know, SE wants ninty gamers to buy their next ff game/become fans of their frachise and that's free advertising for them. Or it could be more.
