Forums - Gaming - Where would we be without Sony this gen?

I'll still be playing on my Wii U. because I'm still waiting for the games I want to play on my PS4.

This question is very broad so I will only address how it would affect my gaming. The Wii U is the only thing keeping me in console gaming so a Sony exit would be irrelevant to me. I'm still glad they made the Playstation though because Sega wasn't delivering in the late 90s... love that PS1.

Sega wasn't delivering in the late 90s? WTF?

I can't really see things being that much different in the grand scheme of things. Games would still be made... People would buy the system that had those games. Not really a tough concept to understand. The industry moves on.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Real question is where would we be without competition.

Remember PS3 release? Or Nintendos market politics in the late 80s/early 90s?

Competition is neccessary. That's why it's stupid to want any of the gaming companies quit the race. And probably even more stupid to want Sony and Nintendo siding. There should be at least two competitors that, ideally, are equally strong.

I doubt console gaming would still exist

In those circunstances they would have quite the grip on the hardcore market. Its unlikely the hardcore would move to Nintendo when the Wii U is significantly less powerful.

Because reasons? You need to more than that to convince me.

Because they would have a system that is one generation ahead at the same price? Thought it was obvious.

Totally wrong fallacy. Competition should come from software only.

Without Sony then everyone.....yes, everyone will speculate about NX.

New NX thread will be created every 30 seconds.

The Nintendo discussion will over flooded with NX thread to no end.

Then after NX released, we'll see threads like:

1. My NX is better than yours

2. Why less 3rd party games on NX

3. Games on NX are TOO HARD!

4. NX sales are f**king awesome!
