Based on what?

On those companies lack of understanding of the gaming industry. Thanks to them (at least partially), things that don't deserve to be considered games or should at most be considered niche gaming experiences are taking over real games. It even infected and destroyed established franchises, making them more like movies than actual games. Meanwhile, we get less and less true games from big companies and all of that drags the industry down.

Note that I'm not talking financials here, just that the real games and gamers suffer with the current state of things. As a comparison, there's a huge amount of amazing games from the 6th gen and before that I want to play or replay but only a small number of 3rd party games from this gen will be like that. Ironically, many indies capture the true feel of games better than most AAA.

I would love to see what you consider a true game and what you don't consider a game!

Can you give us an idea of what you consider to be bad for gaming?

Are TLOU and Uncharted too movie like? Bloodborne? Infamous? LBP? Tearaway? Where do these games fit into your idea of worthiness of the title of "proper game"?

And for the record, I earlier stated in this thread that my first console was a NES and NGC was one of my favourite consoles.

I wouldn't mind actually, but that's because I'm a Nintendo-PC gamer, and I don't care a lot about Sony exclusives to be saddened about that. Sony was a big part of my life before, but now I'm very indifferent towards it.

i would never buy a wii u, so that only leaves xbone.

In a very bad place. I imagine every game would be more expensive and with more expensive DLC. Japanese gaming would've have completely crashed and/or in part have gone to Nintendo. Microsoft would be making little effort in the first party camp and we would be beeing force fed kinects. Games would all require a permanent internet connection. Millions would just never adopt the new system.

So... yeah... in a worse place. Microsoft is very abusive when they find themselves in a monopoly like situation.

MS would be light years behind monopolizing anything in the gaming industry.

In those circunstances they would have quite the grip on the hardcore market. Its unlikely the hardcore would move to Nintendo when the Wii U is significantly less powerful.

This question is very broad so I will only address how it would affect my gaming. The Wii U is the only thing keeping me in console gaming so a Sony exit would be irrelevant to me. I'm still glad they made the Playstation though because Sega wasn't delivering in the late 90s... love that PS1.

You'd be playing the same games. Just on an XBox. That's all.

Yes, yes, no, no, no, no. Real games are about gameplay, and gameplay is getting replaced in many cases.

Because reasons? You need to more than that to convince me.

If Sony didn't make an 8th gen console I'd have a Wii U in my house right now, I think. But probably I'd be doing a lot more gaming on PC and I would have bought a better PC. I don;t think there's a single multiplat game I have at the moment that isn't available on PC, and Xbox exclusives don't interest me at all.

Interestingly though, I don;t think certain games would be times exclusive on Xb one without PS4. Rise of the Tomb Raider either wouldn't have been made or it would have been released on PC at the same time as on Xbox.

Soooo what's a real game?

Seriously, I've been a gamer since before you were born and gaming is no less real now than in every generation before.
