We have heard it a million times at this point; 

"Xbox would be doing way better if they hadn't mucked up the launch" BUT

This in essence is a bit of smoke and mirrors, as it was what Xbox division had planned and set out to do. It was a glimpse of gaming with xbox leading the way.

So my question is "where would we be if Sony had bowed out of consoles", what if xbox was the only option out there? Would you have been happy with drm and daily log-ins and kinect and everything the ecosystem was going for? Would you have stuck with consoles? Would there have been an alternative?

Yes, it would have been called the Wii U.

I'd choose whichever console that have the games I wanted.

I honestly dont know if they wii u would have done much better without the ps4.

from oct 2012 - oct 2013 there was no ps4, but the wii u failed anyway. I dunno if the sales would increasy significantly in 2014 without an ps4.

Yeah, I think I would have got a wii u but I still think it is expensive at the moment. Gamecube was my last nintendo console that I thought was really great. Wii was used more casually at our house.

We would be in a scenario where games would be developed for X1, WiiU or PC. Maybe the lack of Sony would incentive a new company to bring in a new console. But other than that, pretty much the same.

As for Sony developed/published game, they'd either go for other platforms or wouldn't exist at all.

So PC would be out of the question for you?

I'd be playing on pc but I'd definitely game a lot lot less

If we assume PS4 exclusives like Dragon Quest, Ni No Kuni, Uncharted, Bloodborne or FF7 would go to Xbox then I'd get an Xbox. Otherwise no.
