Forums - Gaming - SEGA on a COMEBACK--or--SEGA just getting Lucky

I'll give them this, the Wii is giving them a wider audience that a lot of their IPs will appeal too. And Mario & Sonic is huge for them.

So profitability is going to continue to see a nice boost, but quality-wise they still leave a lot to be desired. Just rented Sega Superstars Tennis. I'll just say IGNs review is quite fair, perhaps generous.

Sega is releasing quite good games lately .Valkyrie of the Battlefield,Imabikisou ,Yakuza 3 ,Condemned 2 ,Viking Battle for Asgard (first review I have read its 8.5 ) are very good games .And Sega Superstar Tennis may be so so but will probably get very good sales in the Mario and Sonic way .

I am pleased that Sega is finally releasing quality stuff .

 imabikisou isn't even a game....

The same could be said about most Wii and DS offerings .

That was awesome.

SST  is a dumbed down version of virtua tennis 3

VT3 is a mutch better game but  no one cared about that game, people  prefer playing a tennis game with mascots and say that it  sucks and segas quality is still bad when a great tennis game from sega is in the shadows

the same with VF5 its an amazing game but people could care less about it all they want from sega are sonic games

I'm actually rather foot in mouthed with Sega at the moment. I've always HATED sega, I thought the crap they produced was just that. They always made OK games, but I could never get into them because they always fcked up the setting or the mood... or the acting... something always got dragged down. But as of recently they seem to be making a massive comeback with quality. Condemned 2 looks friggin awesome and it's not terrible to play! I might pick it up :D

Then Valkyrie of the battlefield is just simply gorgeous :) Going from Condemned to that seems almost impossible, but it looks like they're pulling it off ^^

So I'm gonna say Comeback for now :P I still think they're 90/10 on the garbage scale. But that's 10% they didn't have before :P It seems like they might have woken up xD

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

this was ofcourse aimed at diomedes =P

So the dark years were during/right after the Dreamcast, and now Sega is progressively getting better?

*Looks at super monkey ball games*

...Looks to be the opposite. :P The first two monkey ball games were amazing, and the next two that were put out over the years were absolutely atrocious.

I'd rather Sega be doing horribly as a company and putting out great Super Monkey Ball games than the other way around....

Then there would be no hope for the future of Super Monkey Ball games as the company would be doomed to collapse.  At least a financially viable Sega could eventually turn the games around.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

@wfz

thats one of the most stupid things I have ever heard

your last line ofcourse

You wish he failed.

Yeah, VF5 was a terrible flop for Sega. VF4 sold about 550K in Japan last gen, plus another 100K for Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution, about a year or two into the PS2's life. Hell, VF5 is the worst selling Virtua Fighter in the series's history, spinoffs like Virtua Fighter Kids included.

The Super Monkey Balls were built on the DC and ported to the GCN (never released on the DC due to quickly falling sells after they halted production in March 01). Banana Blitz was pretty good though...
