Forums - Nintendo - What did it feel like to play OoT/SM64 for the first time?

The intro to Mario 64, where you just pulled and stretched Mario's face? Wow, I must have played with that for a good 6 hours. The game was just huge to. And being able to walk, then press the stick further and run? Jump over and s under bridges that looked like ones in real life? Felt like a dream.

Ocarina of time? Getting on Epona and jumping fences and shooting arrows? One can't describe the awesomeness. Here's my best way to put it. You know that Super Smash Bros Brawl cut scene of the epic space fight?

Remember how in awe you were when you first saw it? Yea, Ocarina was like the feeling but instead of lasting 1 minute it lasted for the entire game.

I guess in short in felt, like someone said, like freedom. It was like a lucid dream. I suppose we will all feel it again when the come out with a perfected 1:1 virtual reality.

I still remember SM64 ...
It was better than sex. A little bit better, but still better.

Like Tony the tiger says it felt gggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeat ! First time I played it I was amazed how good it looked and amazed at how vast hyrule was.I think OoT the only game I owned 3 times N64, VC, and the master quest disc ......well maybe street fight 2 , but hyper turbo and reg counts different. OoT was the first game that made me enjoy fishing soo many hours spent at the lil pond and in the cemetery catching ghouls .

Well, Ocarine of Time was the first game I ever played so I was just amazed and in awe. At the time I hadn't experienced anything on such a an epic scale (I was 8 when I played it), just blown away. It felt good.

With Mario 64, I was probably 13 or so and a school mate had been bugging me with the phrase itsa me Mario! About how unbelievable the new mario was. Well, I had never seen a 64 before at the time. Was still playing Mario World and the like. I finally had the chance first with Zelda. Forgive me but this was my 1st zelda game so apart from the cartoons I didn't have much to go by. I played it with my brother and sister. Honestly, I was astounded especially hyrule field the first time. I remember we didn't move about for about 5 minutes because we were a bit overwhelmed. When we started moving we tried to make sure we weren't straying from the path on the field because we were actually afraid we would get lost in that gigantic field. No game since then has done that.

Not to start a fight or anything but I sincerely doubt most sony and ms fanboys can truly understand what I'm talking about.

It wasn't that great for me. I played Super Mario 64 at a friend's house. I was overwhelmed... by the awkwardness of the controller. Jumping on enemies didn't feel right. Not a great experience for me. I've never played Ocarina of Time.

i want to buy both of them since i haven't had a N64, but they will be the first 2 games i will buy on the VC

I hardly realized what I was playing because I was too young... it was only later that I learned to appreciate how awesome those games were. Such a shame, actually...

inever felt too m,ucj when i played oot and mario64 for the foirst time, they were just mmore games to mee. I was never a big fan of the os game games, maybe more nintendo fans will show up and give ideas about the game, but oot was cool, it had the horse opoons and the big field where you could run around. it also had the sea at the south where you could fish. i remember killing the ckickens and having them ome after me, that was pretty cool,

Tired?

OT: Never played SM64. Bought OoT on the VC. It was awesome but TWW is still the best Zelda.

 You have never played SM64?

BLASPHEMY!

Both of them made me so undeniably happy. SM64 for the absolute running and jumping freedom, Zelda simply because it was just such an epic and beautiful game.

Jumping on a Goomba's head and chasing around hat stealing monkeys was pure bliss!
