Not too bad for kiwami given what it is and that an hd collection of the first two games came out not too long ago.

It's a great result.

Wii U is holding out a bit better than expected considering 9 out of the last 10 days the console wasn't available (and still isn't right now) at Amazon Japan

Considering the console got 3 new releases this week, the PS4 numbers feel actually a bit low

Vita is doing alright, nothing spectacular but not at all bad, either.

Since when Amazon Japan represents the whole Japanese market?

Also why PS4 numbers feel a bit low? Kiwami is also available on PS3 and it sold actually decent there (60k). Did you expect that people would buy a PS4 only for Kiwami when they can play it on PS3? Let's also consider that a Yakuza HD Collection was released some years ago and it sold very good. Expect maybe if you thought a game like Just Cause 3 could cause a PS4 bump.

I think Ps4 did preatty okay. Wii U. Is not amazing, but its not the worst. 11 thousand ehh. Could be better. 3DS or NEW 3DS very good. Vita, neat, and xbox one. Yeahhh... no. Not that good

We pretty much agree to everything!

Kind of a random question but does anyone have some historical total LTD numbers for Vita and PSP , specifically launch aligned if possible?

The only reason I ask is that I got bored earlier and went digging through some of the older weekly sales pages here on VGC and noticed something. The PSP sucked ass as far as software went in Japan, especially at the same point in it's life as the Vita is right now and I just want to see if VGC is accurate.

According to VGC (and if I aligned them correctly) here's what the situation looked like:

  • PSP Hardware - 11,246,086, Software - 23,190,670 (2.06:1)
  • PSV Hardware -  4,521,596,  Software - 17,228,250 (3.81:1)
From a hardware perspective Vita has only sold 40% as many consoles as the PSP but as far as software it's sold 75% as many games. Now the PSP did make a decent comeback thanks to Monster Hunter exploding and a late surge in 2010/2011 but I was suprised by how terrible it did from 2004-2008.
Did the PSP just not have many games releasing or were people just not buying games for it?

Nice find. I didn't know that. Very interesting.

Wasn't piracy a major issue on PSP? I haven't heard about that being much of an issue for Vita.

The usual Nintendo fanboys are giving Biulders a one star on Amazon Japan lol. Some things never change.

Was piracy big in Japan, or anywhere, at that time? I'll be honest, I don't know when the PSP's piracy problem started.

I think it started shortly after release but not 100% sure, it's the only thing I can think of that would explain the massive drop in hardware but modest drop in software.
