Not a chance, maybe for people who aren´t into sports game but for those who love them there is no replacement for fifa

No, part of what makes FIFA popular is it's legitimacy. Getting to play as messi or Ronaldo with their updated stats is a lot more meaningful that playing with a bland mii. FIFA will always have the "edge" on whatever Nintendo tries to throw out in terms of sports simulators.

Nintendo is better off making a distinct sports game (mario strikers) AND paying EA and Konami to get FIFA and PES on their consoles

Of course they could, it's just soccer. And I bet they would release one game per gen  and add new player casts + other stuff through dlc.

They already did: Mario Strikers. It's up to them to updated it, add a cool online mode and promote it. I know OP doesn't count it, but since Nintendo fans needs are different, I still consider this game as a contender. :)

If they invest on it like they did with Splatoon, I'm sure it can be successful.

I love Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii and actually bought it to play on the Wii U.  I find it to be more fun than the FIFA series.  I guess I like arcade sports games more than realistic ones.  I would definitely purchase the next game in the series if it came out for the Wii U.  Come on Nintendo...make it happen!  Lol

You're certainly not alone on this, man! I enjoy it more than realistic ones too, and would love a new one!

For some time I thought Next Level was working on it for Wii U, but I guess not.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I think they should have pushed to try and secure PES on Wii U. It would have zero competition and most likely sold ok numbers.

This may be a great idea!  I would purchase it for the Wii U!

Yeah, that's a bummer!  The last game sold over 2 million so I would think Nintendo would invest in another one.  Then again, that was on the Wii and it had a bigger install base.  However, seeing how much Wii U owners want games it could still do well.  Nintendo did release a new Mario Tennis game so maybe it's in the works *fingers crossed*.

Don't really think so.. Strikers was pretty fun, but that's probably the way they will go with sports game

Having a realistic version means they would be competing to a greater extent and will not attract the 'family audience' they are always trying to target

FIFA is a pretty big name that only sport fans really enjoy, and that's probably not something in Nintendo's interest, so no.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
