I originally made a similar thread about Tearaway Unfolded before its launch. I had high hopes of it outselling the original (and most people on the thread too), but unfortunately the game turned out to be a bomb as it sold only 180k so far.

Given that Gravity rush is a remaster of a Vita game and had similar sales to Tearaway, I'm starting to worry about its future. However, I see more sales potential for it on PS4 than Tearaway; I think the game is more visually appealing to the young adult demographic of the PS4, therefore it could enjoy better sales. Plus, it's releasing on a historically weak month/time while Unfolded released near the crowd of big games.

By the way, I believe it should do at least 500k to meet expectations, but that's pure guess.

What do you think guys? Will it thrive or will it bomb?

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Leaning towards thriveing.

I believe it will pay off as a number are looking forward to the sequel which is made specifically for PS4.

Definitely will do better than the Vita version, and the sequel will be a huge contributing factor to how well the remaster does, I'd say.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yeah, that's the main reason why I think it will succeed. Hopefully Gravity Rush 2 sells a lot (2m+)!

Probably not. Tearaway launched closer to the Vita hype, was better reviewed on Vita to my knowledge, and will likely have had better scores on PS4 when all is said and done. The only thing GR has is the sequel coming fairly soon and MAYBE some leftover PSAS hype from fans of that game. I mean I'm buying it partially due to PSAS hype, partially due to wanting to play it even before PSAS, and partially to get into the sequel easier. I also bought Unfolded PS4.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I really doubt the remaster would have to sell 500k to be considered a success... The original got a sequel greenlit despite selling only 600k in almost 4 years....

Breakeven point for the remaster is probably like 150k-200k lol

It'll do alright. I don't think they're expecting a whole lot considering they originally planned to not even do a physical release in NA.

It's all about exposure for the second game.

The PS5 Exists.

I think it'll do ok. Expectations shouldn't be high.
