Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Trademarks “VRPG” In Japan: Could it Be a Virtual Reality RPG?

I want to believe that Sony has a card under their sleeve with the PSVR that will blow our minds.

I really, really want the VR tech to succeed.

RPG's with VR would be a Megaton, imagine a Skyrim like game with all the VR bells and whistles.

Somehow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that .

Please excuse my bad English.

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I can see people already imagining Sword art online and getting disappointed after it actually comes out.

PS VR will get all of the hentai anime VR games. It's just a matter of time. XD

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Can any derivation of the Role Playing Game concept be pattented or licensed?

Trademarks aren't quite the same as Patents. It would just be the term VRPG that they could protect if some other companies tried to get involved.  They would be free to call them VR-RPG etc.

It's not as if it would prohibit anyone from making a "VRPG". Were it a patent that was approved, nobody would be able to make one unless they agreed royalties to Sony.
