The following is an announcement for those currently playing only FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. This announcement does not affect users playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward or the all-in-one FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. The previously announced disk space required for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn will increase on all platforms with the release of Patch 3.2 currently scheduled for release in February 2016. This is due to the fact that the development team has added a substantial amount of new content to FINAL FANTASY XIV since the launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The new disk space requirement will differ on each platform. Please check the updated disk space requirements outlined below and ensure your console or computer has adequate storage space. If your console or computer does not have enough storage space available, you will be unable to launch FINAL FANTASY XIV, so please ensure your console or computer has adequate storage space before the release of Patch 3.2 currently scheduled for release in February 2016.

Platforms Space required before Patch 3.2 Space required after Patch 3.2
Windows 20GB 30GB
Mac 20GB 30GB
PlayStation®3 12GB 20GB
PlayStation®4 40GB 50GB

Please refer to the Sony Computer Entertainment support website for information on how to address hard drive storage space capacity issues on PlayStation®3 or PlayStation®4.

Wait, it's not for Heavensward? So, maybe they're giving some Heavensward content to A Realm Reborn or something like that?

It's way too soon to talk about an expansion, Heavensward is still empty and not updated enough, they need to fix it before announcing the next step.

Most MMO's fold in the expansion and lock it in the files, so that if someone has something from the expansion they don't glitch out. And actually 10GB seems to becoming the norm for content patches.

Yes, but it's weird that it doesn't affect people playing the V3 (Heavensward) or the V2+V3 all-in-one game. It doesn't look like a content patch if it affects only the outdated V2 client...
