I cant agree with this. Whatever about a timed exclusive (Even if i think that sucks too), but buying full on exclusivity to a game that was multiplat is not good for the consumer and is bad practice imo. You want exclusive go and make your own and build up your own ips is how it should be done imo.

It is still multiplatform though. Sony were kind enough to leave it on PC.  It's standard business really for companies to want exclusives.  Just look at Microsoft and gears of war.  They ended up buying the ip outright in the end.  If they don't get exclusives they won't stand out from the competition.

That goes around in a bit of a circle though. True, without exclusive titles, there would no point in having two competing consoles that are otherwise very nearly the same machine. But if exclusive titles only exist at the whims of those companies pushing the consoles, then the PS4/Xbone divide is one kept alive only bt PS4 and Xbone themselves, and its not for the consumer's benefit.

If there was only one console format that nobody owned and anybody could manufactor consoles for, this would only be more benificial to consumers, ie. everybody has access to every game. No Sony gamers, no Microsoft gamers. Just gamers.

True that exclusives are needed to perpetuate the format divide, but that's not to say that the format divide is worth perpetuating in the first place.

So Microsoft and Nintendo giving up and developing on Playstation is the best thing?

I'd agree that Nintendo going third party would be good but the market is big enough to support both the xbox and Playstation brands along with PC and mobile.

the best way to support your console is to make games for it. lol. its a dying art, i know.

Tell that to WiiU and it dissapointing sales.

Making sure the games people want to play(regardless of exclusivity or genre) are coming to your console is the best way to support your console.First party games, second party games, console exclusives and marketing deals are just an extra push and the last two are usually dictated by whom has the largest install base.

Besides PS4 will get lots of exclusives and console exclusives just by having the largest install base and demographic appeal(japanese games for example).

youre right. im going to march into my living room right now and tell my wii u to sell better and make games for all the dude bros. (lol)

Dude Bro?  Pc,  ps4 and x1 have a ton of games for every demographic.  It's not primarily a kids,  teenager or adult console.  they are all 3. And that's the way to be.

You assume far too many things about me. I understand how all that works. What i fail to see is how a game that has sold over 8 million units acros a number of platforms, couldnt of made enough money for a sequal, but yet games that look like they would of costed alot more and yet sell alot less are seen by their companys as being very successful and perfect for a sequal.. Too me it seems more likebad managment,  since im sure the is lots of other companys who would be very happy if their beat em up sold so well...

You're right, I was assuming.

Other companies might not be as diverse as Capcom, and thus not relying on the revenue from their heavy hitters to supplement their less successful endeavors.

This is the only reason i can think of, plus that they dont think the sequal would of sold as much so they didnt have enough faith in it to found it. However i do believe that if Capcom wanted to they could of funded the game.

Completely agree.  Its gotta be strictly a budgeting strategy that is leading them to not do so.
