I think Metroid is taking alittle break for now.

Go look at superchunks sig.

That's speculation what's in his sig. Confirmation is Nintendo announcing a new Metroid. To be honest, I'd like a small hiatus to give other franchises and new IPs a chance at some development time. We've had 4 Metroid Prime games in five years. It's almost in yearly additions territory like Madden and Call of Duty. In comparison we get usually one or at most two Zelda games in the same time frame. Genius takes time and reinvention of a series takes time also. Let's all hope other IPs get some star time this gen and not the same couple of franchises receiving all the attention.

We actually had 3 zelda's in the last 5 years. We had 5 metroid game Fusion,Hunters,Metroid Prime 1,2,3. 2 of these games were made by a different developers. All of these games were of high quality. The difference between CoD and metroid is that some of the games in CoD sucked such as 3 and 5 is planned to suck. Now The worse metroid game is hunters imo and that was a very good game still. Hunters also got a rating of 84% on game rankings. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920760.asp

I purposely said Metroid Prime because I wasn't including Fusion since it's radically different as I also didn't include Metroid Prime Pinball for the same reason. If you look at the Metroid Prime games critically, they get increasingly lower scores as time passes. You can chalk that up to reviewer bias or understand that maybe Metroid isn't feeling so fresh anymore. If you look at reviews for Metroid Prime 3, you'll actually notice a trend of reviewers attitudes being "been there done that". Metroid needs a break and others need to shine. That will make Metroid feel fresh again 3-5 years from now in a grand return. If you can't understand why Prime felt so fresh it was because it was a great game to a series we hadn't seen in almost 10 years. Metroid is oversaturated right now and Nintendo only has so many developers to work on projects. I would enjoy new IPs or a fresh perspective of overlooked franchises, and leave characters like Samus to rest a bit for now and come back stronger than ever. Give me a killer Kirby console title for gods sake! It's been FOREVER!

If they made a 2d one which we haven't seen since fusion I think it would change it to be good. We see mario about 4 times a year , but nobody complains too much about that. I do agree that the fps metroids are getting a little repetative.

I could go for a 2D Metroid again, but I still think they should wait a few years to bring it out. I stand by Samus feeling oversaturated right now. I also do complain that we see Mario four times a year. I feel it cheapens the feeling of a Mario platformer because we never have Mario out of our field of vision to appreciate his grand return. Even in a year with quite possibly the greatest Mario game ever, Galaxy, we also had Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Strikers, Mario Party 8, and Mario Party DS. I'm not taking anything away from any of those games, but it just gets tiring playing so many games with Mario & Co. in it all the time. Maybe if some of the other Mario characters could branch off more often on consoles it wouldn't feel so shoved down the throat. Paper Yoshi platformer? I'd buy if it's good. Another Luigi's Mansion or other Luigi spinoff? Sign me up! A Civilization type game starring Bowser trying to upkeep his control of the world and a kidnapped princess while Nintendo mascots try to invade? Send me a copy day one!

I agree. Even if they were developing another metroid I don't see it for at least 3 years unless they were already developing it.
